just tested the Xiaomi 12S Ultra, big round lens clear screen , fast UI but meeehhh, i don't see the need to upgrade my OP7pro or Galaxy Note 8. Everything feels & looks the same except for the hardware of course lol

it seems the "need" to upgrade is waning unless you just "want or like" or the last phone is totally bonkers

^It seems we are at that point. It's similar to cars. I use a car that's from more than a decade ago. If it can go at any point in luzon, dead reliable, puts out cool air in the cabin, what else do i need? For I still remember the era when it's common to see water drums along slex for any cars having overheating issues. During holy week, police and road assistance would be commonplace. Acid test would be "kaya ba niyan umakyat ng baguio?" Reliability and ample power is ordinary these days.

Sa mga cellphones, este smartphones... di na bitin sa storage na gagawa pa ng workaround to put apps on the sdcard. Magtatake lang ng video at mabilis mawalan ng storage space. Cameras are good.

======
However. My 2019 samsung a70 smartphone becomes not so smart when i have 1000 vids downloaded at the youtube app. Regardless if i store it in the ssd or internal memory. It still has 20gb left on both storage but the app really goes wonky.

Hayy. I'll be forced to shell out cash because the user experience is subpar.
Will never, ever buy a SONY ever again.

^if that's the case the "need" to upgrade is there.
Get another one that can last for the next 5 years lol
they say Samsung is slow to update their OS but it gives the S2x series 4~5 years of update in the OS side of things

I guess we should stray away from the phones that have gimmicky stuff to offer but will be seldomly used by the user. Outline your priorities then go from there in selecting your next Smartphone, the one's that make us all dumbfolks lol

Wait and see, wait and see if it's going to be a goodie.

i've had a bad experience with Zenfone so i won't recommend it to anyone unless Asus has proven that later models are reliable.

the problem i had was with Zenfone 3. supposed to have a large battery capacity but after less than a year of use i noticed the phone heats up and the battery drains fast even on idle. turned out that i was not the only one who had the same problem. i had it repaired at an official service center and they said it was a motherboard problem.

my current phone is a Realme 7 and i am happy with it. its not a gaming phone but it can run Mobile Legends at nearly 60 FPS and it's battery is superb. also takes sharp photos.

^I completely understand how one bad product can make one shy away from a whole company. Even years down the line.  Yung tipong "how da fuck did this crap manage to get out of their door?" I mean, look at my sig. Honestly, ever since that blasted sony cd burner,  i have bought a few good sony products that are good-excellent.

I had the first zenfone. Last year's Zenfone 8 had good reviews. Sinisipat ko lang kase may audio jack. I think 2-3 months worth of consumer feedback after the launch would be enough for me to decide.

Buti nalang sa mga battery test comparos sa youtube. A53 lasts longer than a73. Pero yun pala 15 min. diff lang over 7 hours. Neglible for me.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n__iwk4KRJk

Unfortunately the last Pixel device to include unlimited storage is the Pixel 5.

I have not heard about that and I have been a GoogleOne subscriber for years now. Speaking of root, this is the only android phone I own/owned that I have not rooted, from the Note 2 > Note 5 > OnePlus 6T.

I used magisk to root my OnePlus 6T

You still can use banking apps while rooted, I used MagiskHide module to hide root from those apps.

then you just need to download and enable the module for pixel experience.  never tried it though.  i unrooted my phone since i find it more of a hassle to use magiskhide and have no use for root now

At first the BDO app wouldn't work even with MagiskHide but I discovered that once you delete the TWRP folder the BDO app already works. Banking apps I used on my rooted phone are BDO & Security Bank, also, GCash.

oh.  which twrp folder is that?  i couldnt get the bdo app to work.  is it in the root folder?  is it okay to delete that folder?

is it the empty twrp folder?  i just found it in my phone now.  kaya pala nung nag unroot ako ayaw parin gumana ng bdo app

^ it's in the storage folder and yes you can safely delete that it is just a leftover folder when you install TWRP. I guess the BDO app scans for that folder when it launches. Good luck!

I think it would be safer to have all the financial apps & the Like in an unrooted phone.

In the earlier days of android, tweaking & flashing different ROM's was really exciting. I had the legendary HTC HD2 windows phone that can install different flavor's of Android, Windows Phone & even Windows for desktop lol.

Now it seems that most of the Android Flavors, like the Harmony OS,  has satisfied "most" of our taste buds & hacking & rooting was slowly forgotten.
