Torrent is Killing/Stopping My Internet
« on: December 26, 2021, 04:01:33 PM »
I am on a 175mbps plan. No problems downloading from torrents. Problem only started a few days ago. Whenever downloading torrents, the internet on my desktop stops working. No problem with other devices connected via wifi. Only the desktop PC losses internet. Only solution is to restart PC, and voila, internet is back. Using the desktop for other purposes doesn't give the same issues but when I start using torrents, it losses internet again after just a few minutes. Restart the PC and internet is back.

Any thoughts?

winsock corruption maybe?

When you lose internet try running these in an administrator command window and see if you get internet back:

netsh winsock reset

netsh int ipv4 reset

netsh int ipv6 reset

ipconfig /flushdns
fhtagn

Had a similar issue a while back, not torrents, but when transferring large files from network ( >70GB), network will suddenly stop, only a reboot fixes it, turns out windows updates installed an old driver, updating the driver fixed it.

In your case if it started having issue on seceond week of the month (windows update is every second tuesday of the month) then check the network drivers

Having a similar issue as well. My desktop PC sometimes loses connectivity on my 5GHz WiFi connection. I can still switch over to the 2.4GHz band though. Not yet sure if it happens when downloads are ongoing.
I have an ASUS Intel(R) Wi-Fi 6 AX200 160MHz card and AFAIK I have the latest driver for it.
Is it possible that the wireless router is the problem? I have PLDT's Huawei HG8145V5 modem/router.
