Natural Disasters around the world are increasing, I hope Taal wont trigger other volcanoes but rather take out the pressure from them IF that's how it works.

there are now, as I know, 4 volcanic eruptions lately
could be more

^ What lahar said. After reading old articles dami pala warning signs ng Taal.

Quote
Unrest since 2019

Taal has been showing signs of unrest for the past year, with increasing gas emissions, earthquakes and deformation. This all could mean that new magma is moving under Taal and this phreatic blast is just another sign that Taal is heading towards a potential new period of activity or larger explosions. The fact that the eruption has continued for hours suggest that new magma is indeed being fed into the vent. If larger explosions occur, there is the potential for pyroclastic flows and heavy ash fall from the volcano.

^^^We are like frogs in a kettle of water slowly being heated to a boil. We won't notice the danger until it's too late.

bakit parang biglaan? wala akong nabalitaan na warning signs bago yung event kanina.

Taal has been on alert level 1 since March 2019 and eartjquake swarms have been increasing since then, along with other anomalous parameters.
ah. pero biglang nag escalate nang ganyan? bilis naman yata kaya ako nag taka. pero yun nga may sagot yung friend ko na geologist.

I think a good analogy is to compare a volcano to a champagne bottle.

When magma flows underneath and pressure builds up, it's like shaking the bottle. Externally no problem, but once the cork pops it can really blow. Same thing when the layer of rock sealing in the magma finally gives out.

right. i just thought we should have seen signs. i guess that the trigger to the event was just too abrupt to have had warning signs.

iirc there were a few signs a few months back...
the fact of the matter is that a lot of people are so hardheaded that they refused to prepare and only left when it's too late.

LATEST: Fissuring in areas near Taal Volcano hints impending explosive eruption

MANILA, Philippines --- New fissures or cracks discovered in areas around Taal Volcano are an indication of an imminent explosive eruption, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said on Tuesday afternoon.

In a press conference, the agency further explained that fissuring on the caldera region means that the top of the volcano has been depressurized and the high volume of magma continues to rise, which will result in an explosive eruption.

In hindsight, the buildup to the Pinatubo 1991 eruption was even shorter than Taal 2020. Just one week between warning signs and the catastrophic eruption. Difference is back then we had Dr. Ray Punongbayan make that courageous call for an immediate evacuation.

What I'm noticing is the lack of preparedness and political will of one province. Because one province was quite prepared and have nothing but plaudits and appreciation for PHIVOLCS. Another has the opposite. And that province doesn't even have a claim to Taal apart from the view.
