30 cu m water consumption in a month for a family of 5. No pets, no aquarium, no swimming pool, no cistern/overhead water tank, no bath tub, no pipe leaks AFAIK.

Reasonable, or busted water meter?

Check for leaks first... (i.e. defective toilet tank float or flapper)

We're 3 in the house with a garden and lots and lots of pets (daily cage cleaning) and we're averaging 35 m³
Thanks.

We averaged about the same (around 1k pesos monthly water bill when everybody else we know only paid about half) back in our old apartment. A few weeks ago I learned that the tenant who rented after us had the water meter replaced because it was deemed defective by maynilad. Now I'm wondering if we really are consuming that much water or we (what are the odds, huh?) have a defective meter in our new residence.

possible na defective meter.  kaya lang di papalitan ng maynilad kasi defective na advantage sa kanila.  lolz!  my aunt used to have a defective meter na sobrang baba ang consumption.  gusto palitan ng maynilad pero ayaw ng tita ko.  ang nangyari, may nagnakaw ng meter nila at napilitan sila magpalit ng meter.  try to ask maynilad if theyre willing to replace it or at the very least check it if its defective.  yun nga lang pag mabilis ang takbo ng metro ewan ko lang kung willing sila palitan

^ if you're really in doubt, you can buy a 15 mm water meter (Php 500 - Php 600) and install it after the MWSS meter.
if they don't tally, then you will have proof that you can show to your water service provider and they will have no choice but to replace it.

is that allowed?  so i assume that putting it before the meter is not allowed.  right?

Everything after the meter is yours so anything you do is not their concern...
and conversely, everything before the meter is their property so you're not allowed to modify anything.

I find it really weird that a defective meter would run fast. Gears and other mechanical stuff tend to get more, not less resistant over time.

^ Well it's basically a mechanical odometer inside.

There's gonna be a bunch of vanes connected to a shaft driving a worm gear driving the counter gears. Any sort of increased friction or breakdown will normally lead to a gear or two not turning properly. You never see bearings or driveshafts turn better after years of neglect right?

Broken meter is always in the customer's favor, unless the water company does some fancy math and tries to retroactively bill the consumer.

David Jaffe (of God of War fame) speaks out against SJWs and "safe spaces" on campus:

You’re goddamn right I want my children to go to a college where they’re encountering tough, challenging, other people’s opinions, so that they can learn how to respond. And that they can also learn that maybe agree with those opinions; they have a right to agree with those opinions that I don’t [agree with]. This idea that we’re going to protect people from ideas that we don’t like is absurd and dangerous.

That's precisely why I suggested a "leak" check first...
the most common culprit would be a "mis-calibrated" water tank float valve.
the leak might be too minute to hear or notice, but it could be slowly draining water through the overflow tube.

So the 2 AC to 5V DC adapters I ordered from Lazada came in yesterday. One will replace the defective adapter of my Android media player. Luckily, I ordered 2 because one was dead on arrival.

But instead of trying have the defective one replaced, I decided to cannibalize the barrel jack cord for use in my NAS DIY UPS. My QNAP NAS is very picky on which barrel jack works with it.

So I cut the cord after which to my horror I realized I cut the cord from the good AC adapter. Good thing I left some wire left from the adapter so I can reconnect the cord.

I remember when I was trying to splice a proprietary fan connector that my multi-bay HDD enclosure used with an upgraded silent fan I bought from the internet. I stupidly cut the wire all the way to the connector leaving nothing to splice the fan wire to anymore. The fan upgrade project ended there.

I am being treated for an eye problem. Whenever they do a procedure like injecting medicine into the eye, they first mark the target eye on the forehead just above the eye brow so that everyone knows which eye to prepare for the procedure.
