LG B9/BX C9/CX OLEDs make awesome gaming monitors if you have an HDMI 2.1 capable GPU (currently only RTX3000)

For those building a new gaming rig:

The i5-10600k and i9-10850k look like great deals right now.
i9-10850k cheaper than the R9-3900X/XT. i5-10600k cheaper than a R5-3600XT.

I'm surprised local AMD prices are so high. I guess lakas ng demand coz of fans?

^ While reading the RTX 3080 reviews, I noticed that whenever the card runs into CPU bottlenecks, the Intel CPUs are still ahead of the 3rd gen Ryzens. Perhaps it's something that the upcoming 4th gen Ryzens will finally be able to address.

The question is: Are those Intel CPUs really available. When out of stock, lower prices don't mean anything. Initially I preferred buying Intel. I got so frustrated in finding out the lower prices only meant they were out of stock. I decided to go with AMD this time.

I was able to buy locally a Ryzen 3700X from Lazada for just under 19000php COD. I paired it with an MSI MAG B550 Mortar Wifi for about 8500php. It went lower during 9.9 sale. This is my first AMD rig in decades.

AFAIK they are. I ended up looking because I was helping a friend plan out a sim-racing rig.
Got i9-10900k and ASUS TUF 3080.

Problema na lang yung monitor he wants that new 49" Samsung G9.

Sim racing is probably the one case where I agree with the super-aggressive 1000R curve. It's like having one of those old Eyefinity/Surround setups but without the bezels.

Same configuration as mine (3700x mag mortar wifi). The thing to note is intel platforms are generally more expensive than the AMD's.

The recent motherboards for Ryzen has gone up in quality. If weight were a metric for quality, the mATX Mortar is the heaviest one I have bought. I wouldn't have considered buying MSI or Gigabyte until recently.

Intel may have lowered the list price for the CPUs but the motherboard prices tend to offset the savings.

From my recent check platform cost is almost the same if you're building at the top-end (Ryzen 9 vs i7/i9 10th gen). Maybe 1k difference so long as you don't go into the crazy high-end boards. We costed out full builds and i9-10850k came out cheaper than R9-3900X/XT.

Entry level boards Z490 starts at 9,950 (ASUS TUF Plus), X570 at 9,250 (MSI Pro)

Typical mid-high boards with good power delivery are ~14-15k. I think most people will buy at this level:
ASUS Z490 Gaming 14,500 ; Gigabyte Z490 Vision G 13,550
ASUS X570E Gaming 15,050 ; Gigabyte X570 Pro Wifi 13,400

PCX:

AMD has a lead in the very low-end because of A320 platform.
At the midrange B550 (AMD) more or less equivalent to B460 (Intel)

15k budget is only for mobo and proc?  how much is a good budget for a mid range rig nowadays?

Two sample CPU-only builds for you using PCX's prices as of this Friday. Dunno if you consider the i3 and R3 as mid-range, but IMO entry-level means Pentiums and Athlons, so these guys are arguably mid.

For Intel you can go as low as 17,150 for a 10th-gen i3 build using the iGPU. AMD Zen2 the lowest I can get is P21,650 because there's no integrated graphics.

Can go lower using a R3 3300G, but that's a 4-core/4-thread Zen+ part that's belongs more in the low-end. R5 3400G is a 4-core/8-thread Zen+ but it's P9,150, so almost as expensive as the much better 3300X + GT710 combo.

Best bang-for-buck GPU right now is the 4GB RX570 which is coming in cheaper than 1050Tis, so I added that as an alternative for both the Intel and AMD builds.

I was surprised at this too, but the stereotype of Intel = expensive really doesn't apply. They're cheaper at the entry level and the high-end, and on-par at mid-high.

i5 vs R5 (10600 = 12,500 / 10600k = 14,950 vs 3600 = 12,400 / 3600X = 13,200 / 3600XT = 14,700)
i7 vs R7 (10700 = 19,000 / 10700k = 21,950 vs 3700X =19,000 / 3800XT - 22,500)

Rest of platform B550/X570 is same price range as B460/Z490.

You can try making your own AMD build. I'm confident we can make a matching Intel build that will be very close in price.

Haven't experienced it myself, but dami nga nag cocomplain sa reddit. Hardware Unboxed did two videos and surveys on the subject. First video/poll nearly 50%of AMD respondents say they have problems with drivers. Second vid has AMD respondents saying most of their issues are fixed.

General notion of AMD drivers tend to be lower compared to Nvidia but that was years ago. But sadly, the recent 456.38 drivers of nvidia gave all sorts of problems and felt like it was rushed for the 3080. I'm getting signal disconnects and my g-sync monitor is not detected as compatible, although g-sync indicators show it is working. Hopefully they release a corrected driver soon.

This discussion made me realize that I haven't had issues with Nvidia drivers for years now, including the latest driver. I use GFE to auto update so the new driver always installs over the old one. I also use an X34P with a hardware G-Sync module and I've never had any flickering issues with it outside of task switching between a full screen exclusive game and the windows desktop. Sounds cliche but "it just works™".

My other PC is using Intel integrated graphics and I've been having flickering/monitor disconnect issues with it after a recent Windows 10 update.

I am getting some color glitches when watching YT videos (like sudden greens) using the onboard Vega 8 running the latest Win10. Didn't have it on when I was running Linux. Could that be the drivers?

So whats the better alternative/upgrade to the onboard V8? 1050/60 or 570?

^ Could be drivers, but glitches with the IGP could also be an early indication of failing system RAM.

The 4GB RX570 is easily the best budget GPU (90% of the 1060 6GB performance for less money than a 1050Ti), but I'd hate to recommend it to you especially if you're coming from having driver problems with AMD. Baka more of the same lang after spending the extra cash.
