does my laptop support NVME ?
« on: December 18, 2018, 07:21:44 PM »
hello everyone ! i just bought an Asus X411UF-EB107T laptop. I plan to use it for web browsing most of the time.  I've been searching google for awhile now but with little luck and mas nalito pa. maybe im using the wrong keyword to sa search. oh and this is my first laptop yeah I'm not really familiar with laptops pa. anyway the laptop comes with a 1tb 5400 drive.. that I find really slow so upgrade ko sana to SSD. I just want to know if this laptop supports NVME na ssd.

yung nakita ko na site eh ang nakagulo sa akin ng konti. this site im not sure kung ASUS VivoBook S14 (S410) ba eto or ASUS Vivobook S14 S406 ang gamit ko. the s410 says it supports nvme. hindi ko din sure kung tama nga yan nakita ko.

Since you have your laptop with you the best way is to physically check the M.2 slot. If it's M-key then yes it supports NVMe, if it's B-key then it'll only take SATA.

M-key will have 5 pins separated on the right side, while B-key will have 6-pins separated on the left.

An M-key M.2 slot will look like this:

whereas a B-key slot looks like the on on the right in this picture (the left slot is an E-key used for Wifi cards)

not entirely true nowadays... since the B-key also have a PCIe x2, and a lot of x2 NVMe is popping out nowadays, best consult the manual (RTFM is still the best), but yes, that's a quick way to check

anyway they were able to answer my question naman. a bit of hard pill to swallow though. laptop does not support NVME.
