My last 2 phones were the Samsung Note 2 and 5. I'm a fan of the Note series but I'm glad I skipped the Note 7 and I don't think I will upgrade this year but if I had to pick a phone that is out now I will have to go for the LG V30. Sorry Note 8 but the V30 has Hi-Fi Quad DAC on board and Cine Log.

Yeah, LG V30 for me as well, have only owned HTC/LG Android smartphones so far.  Pray for no bootloops though.

A V30 running stock Android (a la HTC One Google Play Edition) would be awesome.

I don't like big phones so I'd go with the sony xz1 compact. which I'm probably going to buy in the near future after a price drop.

^ Probably a ditto on that. Apple has awesome support, even their really old stuff is getting IOS 11.
I wish Google would bring back and expand the Google Play edition program.
