Perpetual Gunpla Thread
« on: April 07, 2016, 03:15:19 PM »
So some guys here in the office are going to group buy bootleg Gundam MG kits. Really cheap like 600 pesos for a Zaku II Char and 1k for a Hi-Nu MG. Last time I assembled a Gundam kit was back in high school. What the heck, I'll have a go at it since they're cheap lol.

Anyone still doing Gunpla?

How good are the plastics? I bought one for my kid sa tiangge (seems to be from divisoria) and the plastic is the cheap type (think little green plastic toy soldiers) with some rough edges. Some of the parts don't snap snugly. It's also hard to pose since the parts easily come loose. I dunno if there're better quality bootlegs.

I was told to expect some filing to be needed but generally they're okay. Not Bandai good but okay just to build and play around with.

Might be good for those who like to customize or do one-offs.

Pardon the lousy cellphone photos. Just to give you an idea how it looks when assembled right out of the box. I was trying to put it in a battle-ready pose but the pieces kept falling off, hehe.

I actually think it has potential in the hands of a skilled hobbyist. It's plastic is "makunat" compared to Bandai originals so it's harder to break off the pieces from the tray. You may notice its left arm has clear epoxy - the piece broke when my son twisted it from the tray.

As you can see from the box it's supposed to be transformable but unfortunately it's no longer possible because of the broken arm piece.

Been at it on and off for the past few years. I heard those knock-off MG kits are decent for the price. Particularly the full gundam strike variants.

I see. I notice that that's the HG 1/144. I'm told that the good ones to get are the 1/100 versions? Anyway, yeah mukhang makunat nga. After we get our bonus on the 15th, an officemate will be doing a Divisoria run for us so I'll post pictures when I get one or two or three hahaha.

TT Hongli ba yang mga bootleg?  Saw one from a previous colleague, parang hindi ko masyado gusto quality.

What I usually do is buy lots of kits when I happen to visit Japan or ask a relative/friend to buy for me. I collect RG's and some MG's.  Yung RG kumpleto ko although I have about 5 unopened kits.  MG naman I just buy yung mga trip ko. I also still have about 5 unopened boxes.

Strategy ko para makamura pa sa Japan is I use my mom's Yodobashi card. It'll give you 10% discount on all your gunpla purchases, which will be placed on the card.  Yung nadiscount mo, pwede mo ipambili the following day.

I'll post pics next time. Ayusin ko muna medyo inalikabok at nagulo na yung collection ko XD
