PCstats starts off a wary skeptic:
Is this marketing hype or are we looking at a drive that creates a black hole every time your copy of Quake III boots up. Only benchmarks will reveal the secrets behind the Kenwood 72X CD-ROM

But finishes the review a true believer of our lord and saviour, the Kenwood 72X True X!
Compared to every CD-ROM we have had a chance to test out, the Kenwood 72X True-X beats them all out.

In addition it's probably the first drive we have ever benchmarked that actually met its advertised speed rating. With funky stylings (as CD-ROM's go), and proven speed records the technology housed in this little metal box by Zen is worthy of the marketing hype surrounding it.

Without out a doubt this is the fastest CD-ROM we have ever seen, and with performance on this level we award the Kenwood 72X True-X the PCstats Editors Choice Award.

Rick "rolled" Astley would never :
- Give you up
- Let you down
- Run around and desert you
- Make you cry
- Say goodbye
- Tell a lie and hurt you

72x = 10.8Mb/s CD Rom data rate
1x = 36Mb/s Bluray data rate

However my 16x LG Blursy Rewriter 2015 model only reads CD Rom discs at 40x-48x actually.

I have not used a DVD drive in years, LOL.

But yeah I don't think they ever beat the Kenwood 72X True.
