Yup. It seems to be busy updating when the screen goes black.

We have the CM Storm trigger on the home desktop. You can use the Trigger app to set the left storm key as Winkey on any of the profile. After setting, you can uninstall the app and the setting will persist on the keyboard. Procedure here:

http://gaming.coolermaster.com/en/support/downloads/114/Global

i assigned M1 Key as winkey but when i press M1+L the screen doesn't lock. it opens the search tool searching for L.

I don't think M! or any of the macro keys can be assigned as Winkey. The example documentation I supplied showed how to assign Winkey to the left Storm key.

There is still the right storm key for that.

migration to 500gb SSD and upgrade to windows 10 success :D steam games also still work well. no hiccups for me during shutdown/start up even after updates, i had one crash though, that damn IRQ_LESS blahblah when my usb drive was plugged in. still customizing le start menu and researching how to lessen the amount of data my desktop is sending back to M$.

i transferred my old, 250GB SSD to le kumander's laptop and reinstalled win7 sp1 yesterday and updated, hopefully that gets upgraded to 10 tonight

i tried the left storm key, can't make it windows key. but it's ok now, i can live with clicking on the lock screen.

guys, is there something i should do to make windows 10 run smoother? in windows 7, one needs to run a sort of benchmarking tool in windows to enable aero and stuff. i can't find something similar to windows 10 and i find the effects and appearance quite crude.

thanks!

^if you are looking for something similar to the appearance of aero you might be disappointed, windows 10 is much flatter in appearance than 7 (but 8 is even flatter).

Windows 10's obsession with Windows Key shortcuts is getting on my nerves. first it's the shortcut for locking the screen, now it's that Game Bar needs it to start and i can't find the application for it, not even using search, because Game Bar stopped popping out.

the damn thing doesn't even minimize. it just disappears.

Just finished installing win10 on a 5-7y/o spare Sempron 2.1GHz , 2GB RAM last night.  It was usable on Win7 and almost usable on 8.1 but it runs great on Win10.

Needs some adjustment from Win7 but everything worked after installation. Nagulat ako hahaha.

This will be for my daughters (MS Office, browsing, etc) so it should be good enough. Just need to scrounge out some funds to get a new 19-20" LED monitor.

Assuming you have a valid Windows 7 or 8 license that you can re-activate I say do the proc and mobo upgrades first. I'm not sure how Win 10 will handle the upgrades. That is unless you have a valid Win 10 key and not just upgrading from an earlier version.
