Rooted both my SK17i and my daughter's L3-E400. :)

A bit of a problem with the SU binary though...  Can't update them to latest (v3.1.3) on both devices.  Am stuck with v3.0.3... :(

Anyway, root still works.  Am uninstalling bloatware now. ;)

Yep,

I rooted my Samsung Galaxy S out of necessity so I can flash a Jellybean custom ROM on it. Samsung tends to abandon its  older models after a couple of rounds of Android updates which is probably in line with their annual "flood" the market with new phones strategy (which seems to be working quite well for them in the highly competitive smart phone space).

Nope,

I haven't rooted my Nexus 7. Since I get the latest updates direct from Google on this device and I like having the "pure" android experience.

Rooted? Yes.

Why? First time I rooted then was because I wanted to block some numbers. I wanted immediate blocked calls, no rings.

Trying to feel the need for root...
And I felt the need, due to a slow-ass Optimus L7. Now I'm happy with CM10.

I rooted the Galaxy y I got from Sun... it was slow as molasses when the inbox reached 700++ messages.

I deleted all the apps that I never use... youtube, facebook, google music, chaton, messenger, etc.

it now performs exceptionally well... even with 1000++ messages
