Are you asking if you can share your Galaxy tab's connection using tethering? Or you want it to connect to a network that's tethered using another mobile device?

sorry for not making myself clear. I have a sony xperia x10 that has 3G network access, i want to be able to tether to my galaxy tablet.

after extensive googling i finally figured out a way..upgrade the firmware of xperia to gingerbread. Now the phone is wifi..sweet

Exactly. A hotspot is a hotspot be it a router or a phone as long as it's willing to share :)

What speeds can I expect if I use my Android phone for USB tethering?
I am currently reviving an old desktop with a broken onboard LAN module. Not having any PCI-E Wifi card or USB LAN adapter on hand, I decided on using my Android phone for sharing my wireless access to our home router. However, I only get around 1.2 Mbps download. Can this get any faster?
