Ps3 or xbox?
« on: August 01, 2014, 03:58:47 PM »
Good day guys!
Please help naman... Wifey and I are planning to buy a gaming console for our 4year old son. Medyo nagsasawa na siya sa ipad. We cannot yet decide which one is better. Ps3 500gb or xbox kinnect 360? All of your help will be much appreciated. TIA...

Better check the games first. My nephew (4 years old as well) only played Kinect for a month. Nagsawa din. I then borrowed it and the hype/excitement only lasted a week. He's into painting and lego now.

I was also contemplating on an xbox 360 w/ kinect - merely for the sports & dance

is there big difference between the 4gb & 250gb in terms of functionality?
i saw a hack for the 4gb to use a WD250gb or 300gb HD, is the HD used to store a game instead of using the disk?
not much knowledge when it come to game console.

Some games will install themselves partially, if not fully to disk and only require the physical BR/DVD for validation. Stuff installed over PSN/XBL digital download will obviously reside completely on the HDD.

Put in an SSD!
Much faster load times.

For PS3 it's easier because the device will accept any standard hard drive, just be sure the firmware does its own garbage collection because the OS likely doesn't support TRIM.

I dunno about current Xbox360 firmware, but on older versions third party drives were enabled by writing to the MBR to make it appear as if it were an official Xbox expansion drive.

I actually ask a crew from one gaming shop at festival mall, he said if i want the moving games xbox daw. But if i want rpg games and those kind of stuff mag ps3 daw ako. I was thinking about what nitsuj said, na baka madali din magsawa ang makulit ko. But i was also considering the durabilty of the console. Kasi nga 4 years old na makulit ang gagamit.

We bought our PS3 Jan 2010. Last March the mobo broke, got it repaired, now its broken again. Now I'm contemplating on whether moving on to the PS4 or just getting another PS3.

Regarding durability, kung dun sa lumang models mas matibay yung PS3 kumpara sa Xbox 360 (YLOD vs. RROD). Pero ngayon sa slim models, pareho nalang sila afaik.

Old PS3 FTW!
Fat version is the best. Full PS2 compatibility + super good sound quality.

Just make sure to clean out your old PS3 and don't leave it in cramped spaces. Mine had the GPU die and I really miss it!

Worth it pa ba ang PS3 sa ngayon? OK pa rin ba ang graphics by today's standards? I haven't actually played any PS3 games (only PS1, PS2, and PS4) but I'm thinking of buying a used PS3 slim/super slim with several games already loaded.

Well they are still HD albeit 720. I'm also thinking of getting one as I got a lot of PS3 games I love playing.
