is one side of your room adjacent to a bathroom?  a split-type AC with the water drain leading to the adjacent bathroom could be an option.
This is a good suggestion. In most residential units, a bathroom is adjacent to a bedroom, lalo na sa mga small units.

Nag-tone down na nga init.

Ung 1hp uber lamig ung tipon nakakasipon, nabasa ko na there is such a thing na oversized AC kaya mabilis magtrip ung compressor at bahagya lang nababawasan ung humidity although malamig, in fact nasa no.3 dial out of 10 lang ung thermostat ko dati.

shit happens.

I can't compare from a non inverter type, since my first split-type is inverter. But with my 1 year with the samsung inverter aircon I can say that it can cool the room really fast. I only set it to 26, sobrang lamig na. Its 2.5HP for a room thats 28sqm.

I am buying a window type for a small 24sqm condo. So far GE Profile series ang medyo mura, 16k for 1hp AED09KL ang model.

reviving this topic...

looking at getting a split type aircon forms a small room so I guess 1-1.5hp should do the trick. any recommendations and their price? what about those inverter types...how much and are they any good? thanks!

^ you will only reap the benefits of an inverter-type AC if you use it at least 8 hours a day.

Actually, given that your AC capacity is correct for the room, the inverter benefits will kick in after 30 mins of operation.

Samsung's warranty is 10 years for their digital (inverter) compressors... so how'd he had it replaced with a different brand if it was still under warranty?

^ was it split type?
Quality of the installation is crucial. If you're not getting good flow through the lines going to the external unit it can mean trouble for the compressor.
