Anybody into boardgames?
« on: September 24, 2014, 08:05:30 AM »
we all played monopoly, snakes & ladders, chess, dama, chinese checkers, etc. at least once in our lifetime.

i'm talking about new and improved "designer boardgames".

we have a small collection right now.

Forbidden Island - cooperative game. aim is to salvage the relics spread around the sinking island.

Forbidden Desert - sort of sequel to Forbidden Island. Theme is digging out from sand dunes.

Qwirkle - scrabble and dominos combined. fun scoring game.

Dixit - storytelling game with a guessing game twist.

Avalon Resistance - my favorite go to game. game of good guys deducing who the bad guys are.

Telestrations - fun party game. laugh out loud ito.

meron ba akong ka-wavelength dito? I can bring some when we go back in pinas this holiday season. just need a place where we can setup a table and have a few drinks and laughs.

i think you'll love this place:

that's Tobey's Game Cafe at Shaw. that's where we play Magic: The Gathering, but there are lots of board games for rent also.

Salitaan - Filipino version of Scrabble.
It's not just a mere "let's play scrabble but with Filipino words".

Letter distribution is very well though out IMO. Given that Filipino uses a lot of vowels, instead of grabbing random letters in a common pile, you always have 5 vowels and 5 consonants on your rack. The letter "Ng" is added and consonants that are never used in Filipino have been removed.
