Help network setup!
« on: January 12, 2010, 09:15:37 am »
Hi!

This my existing WLAN setup: (digitel ISP)-->prolink modem/router-->linksys wrt54g router-->pc

I have an extra dlink DIR 300 router

I have another PC that is out of range.  Can I use the Dlink router to extend the range of my existing setup where the two routers connect wirelessly? How?

I am not that techy but I can follow a guide :) on how to setup this type of network. TIA!

as is, the two routers won't be able to connect to each other through wifi and act as an access point at the same time... you'd have to upgrade both with a 3rd party firmware like dd-wrt to give it this functionality.

Calvin, would you be referring to the WDS functionality offered by DD-WRT (and some other 3rd-party firmwares)? Or are there other methods of connecting wirelessly (ad hoc?)
