Yup all my panasonic aircons behave the same way.
That's a relief. Thanks.
I just wish they'd find a way to integrate inverter tech with a window-type aircon to bring the cost down...  hehe.
Hitachi has a window type inverter unit but it's much more expensive, 42k for a 1hp unit.

Having a smart watt meter is pretty interesting. I bet it'll be useful for all sorts of appliances that guzzle power and stay on for long periods (fridge, PC, plasma TV, etc.)
