PLDT Fibr is practically the same as PLDT DSL only it uses F/O cable and not copper.
When you upgrade to Fibr, PLDT justs migrates your account to their equipment using a F/O cable...
everything else remains the same... in most cases, your monthly fee becomes lower.

they always say that... look for this box in lamp posts near your place.

Like this one, my neighbor also called up PLDT - and they told him that there are no slot available anymore.
And yet this box only has one connection since it was installed a year ago.

tanong mo yung admin ng condo.  baka may ongoing install ngayon.  pero it takes months for them to complete everything.  kailangan din kasi nila ng mga work permit to install sa loob ng condo

^ Tinanong ko years ago, bawal according to the rules and regulations sa condo association namin. Try ko ulit, baka naman allowed na.

for a condo, you will be on VDSL, the fiber will be installed on the condo to be split-up using vdsl to the tenants

That's what I have now. Problem is, the download and upload rates are grossly asymmetrical. 20Mbps down to 150KB/s up.

Every time my cloud backups sync, the internet is practically unusable and remote access to my NAS is painfully slow.

That's looks like ADSL. Did they change your modem to a newer VDSL one? On our condo we get about 20mbps down and 20mbps up last time I checked. It's got IPv6 too.

I'm still using the old DSL modem that they issued to me which I kept because it's already in bridge mode. I'll request a newer modem from PLDT and see how that goes. Thanks for the tip.

^^^Let us know if you got the new modem. It was difficult to gain access to the admin page. It took a while to get the password and even then it was not straight forward to gain access. Lastly, it's almost useless to switch to bridge mode because you're still behind PLDT's CGNAT. But you can gain access to IPv6 settings.

In case I couldn't gain access, I had a backup plan of buying a VDSL modem from AliExpress. They are more expensive than an ONU these days. So if possible PLDT would probably prefer optical to copper.  It's those Jurassic condo admins that are holding progress.
