PLDT recently rolled out speed upgrades for its subscribers in response to Globe’s new unlimited data plans and to appease their subscribers from the customer service hell they’ve been having because of DOLE/labor issues.

Not officially right? The Fibr page still lists the old speeds.

I have no idea if it’s official but our Dsl and fiber accounts have been upgraded. I received a text message from PLDT about it afterwards. I first heard about it after this image started circulating in the internet.

i have but what happens is that i still get an error because the system requires 10 digits.

how about the phone number option?  since its dsl, i assume you have a phone number with it right?  i remember using my phone number before since i do not know my account number
doesn't seem to work. maybe the system was changed?

^^^Have you tried registering your account on PLDT's web page?

https://pldthome.com/

I just checked it right now and I can see the status of my account w.r.t. current bill status.

I opened that account when I was still applying for a fiber subscription

i just tried it. i think i have registered before but i can't recall my password so i asked for a password retrieval. my email's not recognized, which is weird because i had been getting emails (and texts) regarding my impending bills the past months. anyway, i clicked on the View Statement link on the email, had to register my email, then i was able to view the amount due for this month, which is the usual instead of double so i take it that PLDT got my payment for last month but didn't notify me.

thanks!

For the past few days I'm only getting 4-6Mbps on my 20Mbps fiber line.

my 100mbps upload speed has been reverted back to 50 but my speed to the US mainland has doubled and the latency has improved greatly (latency used to be ~200ms to 250ms)

speed used to be ~4 to 7 mbps

last year

not PLDT related, but our Globe fiber has been pretty unreliable lately, intermittent connections during peak hours and there was a 4-hour downtime today. sales rep told me line there has been a lot of line upgrades and repairs in our area. i almost miss our stable but ass-slow PLDT dsl haha.

not sure if it's related but my "mole" in both telcos tells me that there's a current outflux of Cisco certified network specialists going on... so that could be the reason why there's a sudden rise in network hiccups lately.

I was messing with my office router settings last night. I was accessing it remotely from my house courtesy of PLDT's public IP address. I was setting it up for mesh wifi. When I got to the the office this morning, there was no internet. I couldn't even access the router's web setup pages.

Temporarily, I swapped in my old CDR-King CW-5358U router. LAN internet speeds held up well for my PLDT 1899 (25mbps down/50mbps up). Speedtest was decent at around 25mbps up and down speeds. Probably close to its limits. Don't know about its wireless speeds however.

So with internet fixed, I get back to the TP-Link Archer C7 router. It's running OpenWRT. I remember it could still be accessed from the WAN side. So I plugged its WAN port to one of the CDR-King's LAN port. I checked from the CDR-King that TP-Link has obtained an IP address. I then proceeded to access the TP-Link router from the WAN port. It turns out that the mesh package changed its LAN and WiFi settings. The DHCP server was disabled and no IP address was assigned to the LAN port.

P.S. My PLDT fiber modem settings are set to bridged mode through a request via PLDT's 171. I can connect any router to the ONU and it will obtain one (but only one) public IP address.

seems like it... middle eastern countries have a high demand for Cisco certified network specialists now since almost all are upgrading their networks.

My Fiber plan 1899 almost doubled in speed. Maybe it's like PLDT's Christmas patikim.

And what happens to 2899? Up to 100/100?

Meanwhile I've been getting reports that Sky is completely unusable right now.

^ Sweet! In DATA's new Fiber thread it looks like it's even 100/200 for some areas.

@borgy
My info is second hand from the EA of a friend of my dad's. They were asking for suggestions coz of connection trouble with Sky over at their Serendra condo. Sky purportedly admitted that the problem was on their end. Anyways the place is getting Sky de-installed and replaced with something else, chugging along on mobile data in the mean time.

^ah. i haven't seen any posts from irate customers on the sky broadband thread in TPC so hopefully the problem is just isolated. but since we had it installed, sky broadband gets some random timeouts (but not disconnections). the speed is also erratic and we never get the advertised speed (8mbps) even for a short burst. it's the most economical choice though so we only pay 1 provider for TV and internet.

It probably is... I just couldn't test it since Speedtest is limited to ~100mbps
