Here's a rough guide to the relationship between copper distance and maximum data rate for DSL subscribers.
All that's needed now is to know the location of the DSLAM we're connected to... so we could at least estimate if we are getting what we're paying for.

25 Mbit/s at 1,000 feet (~300 m)
24 Mbit/s at 2,000 feet (~600 m)
23 Mbit/s at 3,000 feet (~900 m)
22 Mbit/s at 4,000 feet (~1.2 km)
21 Mbit/s at 5,000 feet (~1.5 km)
19 Mbit/s at 6,000 feet (~1.8 km)
16 Mbit/s at 7,000 feet (~2.1 km)
1.5 Mbit/s at 15,000 feet (4.5 km)
800 kbit/s at 17,000 feet (~5.2 km)

I just moved from Digitel to PLDT. Overall I must say its a big improvement (384kbps vs 1Mbps), and I am getting the advertised rate.

it's better to ask around your location...
there are areas where bayantel dsl is better than pldt dsl... while in some areas, pldt wins hands down.

naputol na naman mydsl ko dito sa st francis cainta. simula 2PM kanina. wala na ilaw yun ADSL led nang modem.

pero meron naman dial tone. buwisit na pldt talaga yan

after 4 follow-up calls and endless promises by the CS that it will be fixed, we still have no DSL.

nauubos yun load ko sa smart kagagamit nun cellphone ko as a modem para lang makapag internet. My wife is getting mad at me because her farmville crop will again go to waste. hay naku.

finally got our connection back this morning.

How did I get it? I sent an email to the president and 2 vice presidents of PLDT!

grabe. palakasan talaga. kung di ko ginawa yun, baka 1 month na wala pa din nangyayari.

ang problema? defective port na naman. buwisit.

kaasar lang ngayon mabagal pa din. 1.5mbps only on mydsl pro plan. lugi.

my problem recently is not bandwidth but rather ping times. Singapore servers usually give 50-60ms but it has been around 250-300 since ondoy

Sakin rin. Hirap makaconnect yung modem ko, minsan nadDC pa. Medyo hindi na madalas yung DC ngayong araw, back to normal 1mbps yung speed, pero ang sagwa ng ping ko.
