Magandang Umaga. Ako si Ginoong Dave Null. Ako po ay isang tagapangasiwa ng sistema.

"Kompiyuter ko," "pook-network ko," "kumpigurasyon ng sistema" and "kahon ng mensahe."
- Mas magulo yata

In the Microsoft glossary, "Bullet" is "panghanay." "Internet access provider" is "tagasustento ng akses sa Internet." "System administrator" is "tagapangasiwa ng sistema." "all caps" is "lahat malaki titik."...

"all caps" is "lahat malaki titik." ... parang bastos na intsik, ah...

Parang pinakababa naman yata ang tingin sa mga Pinoy... "don't they think that we are know of the English language proficiency... aren't they?!?"

This is what concerns me...what's their measure of success? To get more filipinos to use Pinoy Computerese? and then what? how does it ultimately help filipinos? i really doubt it if that increases the computer literacy of the filipinos, especially if most of them can't afford one.

I agree that most filipinos already comprehends/speaks the English language.

But to tell you the truth, Tagalog is becoming so rare that it will be obsolete by the turn of the century.

Let's try the media for example, the only tagalog (purist) out there is the AM radio Balita.

It is sad to say that even Filipinos do not recognized "Tagalog" anymore and it takes "Microsoft" to re-introduce our OWN LANGUAGE to us!

I feel bad that I have to write my statements in English :-(  (despite the fact that I now live here in US)

One thing I have heard in the TV Patrol (yes we have TFC channel) is when they were describing the color GREEN.  The host kept on saying "BERDE"...  but tagalog of GREEN is LUNTIAN!  Now, who else knows it?

I couldn't say that Tagalog (or in actuality, our national language, Filipino) is becoming rare. Rather I would admit that it is evolving. This to me, is a sign that the language is not dying. Whether it evolves for the better or worse is subject to debate. What it does indicate though, is the fact that the culture is evolving as well.

btw, Microsoft is not re-introducing the language to us, they're just creating a glossary, in much the same way as Nokia (China) has a tagalog option on its cellphones.

Just to make things clear, Tagalog is a dialect wherein most of our national language which is Filipino is based on. So its politically correct to refer to the collective filipinos' language as Filipino and not Tagalog. :)
