I guess, yes. but full featured? definitely no.

(basic lang ang firewall ng xp sp1; blocks certain ports; sp2 adds more options which include a program blocker)

Do not ever trust a stranger who will give you a .exe file.

One of the most

famous trojan is SubSeven. Very user friendly and can almost do

anything if pag nabuksan ng victim yung program.

Yung iba naman sa unix/linux machines ginagawa kasi mas matindi

privileges na makukuha.  Usually kasi pag unix/linux gamit mo, server

ka at naghohost ng important infos like credit cards, intelligence files,

etc.

Even more dangerous, .exe attachements from your friends (or emails that appear to have come from your friends).

no system is invulnerable to hacks/cracks. but there are best practices in deploying OSes so that they can act in a secure manner.

winXP "secure"? :P

kahit naka-service pack 1 ka pa, if you connect to the Internet without a firewall, automatic maba-blaster virus ka kaagad in less than an hour!

no one should be connecting to the Internet without a personal firewall these days

hmmm... ang alam ko depende sa skills nung hackers. Pero real hackers won't waste their (golums voice: precciiooouussss) time para lang i hack ang PC ng isang home user. I mean whats the point diba? So i think those who attack home user PC's can be classified as wannabees trying to get popularity lang.. para lang matawag silang hackers kuno..

there will always be a vulnerability or backdoor in any system, unless those software giants will stop creating new OS and just concentrate on plugging every holes imaginable in the current systems.

don't be too sure with XP, there is a backdoor in the system in case you forgot your admin password.

medyo mahirap ata sabihin na "clean" ang system natin, unless we have spent a considerable amount of time in securing our system.  sino na nga yung nagsabi na he only considers a "system secured if you will pull the plug, put it in a safe and bury it a hundred feet below with tons of concrete"?  even then, he still have doubts...

i am.

you learn about the os, network security, software exploits and bugs. you try to exploit it using debug programs, etc.

you need a good knowledge of programming, but i think it's boring.

probably, if someone has a grudge on you,  direct assault against your PC  is not far from happening diba?

other than that, one of the top reasons why

an updated/patched OS is paramount: -->  protection against

"automated mass-hacking software".    it does not discriminate between  servers or home users, nor  flavor of your OS.

Check out first what hacker means.  Here's one story of its origin:

Definition of hacker:  http://www.catb.org/~esr/jargon/html/H/hacker.html

then you should know what a cracker is:  http://www.catb.org/~esr/jargon/html/C/cracker.html
