help with geforce2 mx400 overclocking
« on: December 14, 2003, 10:03:41 AM »
hi, i wanted to overclock my inno3d geforce2 mx400, so i did the ff steps:

1. Open the key, [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareNVIDIA CorporationGlobal] by navigating down to it in the left hand pane.

2. Add a new key named "NVTweak".

3. Go under this new key and add a new DWORD value with the name "CoolBits".

4. Double click on CoolBits in the right hand pane and set the value to 3 with a hexadecimal base.

5. Reboot.

After performing these steps, an overclocking screen will be available under the additional properties of your video card. First you must enable overclocking by clicking on the "enable" check box. After a reboot, you should be up and ready to overclock.

i got this from http://www.anandtech.com/showdoc.html?i=1268&p=5

here's where the problem starts.. when i open the overclocking utility, there are no set values in the core clock/memory clock frequency. second of all, the maximum the slider can go for both clocks is 100 MHz. weird cuz according to the manual, the card is already supposed to be set at 200 MHz core/ 166 MHz memory... is there something wrong with my card?

btw, i have my drivers are version 45.23 if that helps.

thanks in advance! :)

use low-level hardware overclocking not driver overclocking for best results...

Easier to use the self-installing "coolbits" registry hack.

Please note that I did READ your post.  You did not read my post. For the record I said "use the self-installing coolbits registry hack".  The hack you were using is an old antiquated hack that doesn't work anymore on the newer detonator versions.

In fairness to you, your websearch most likely yielded results that discussed the older version of the coolbits registry program. Try looking for reviews of newer GF4 or FX cards and the coolbits download link they provide would surely be the updated one.  The new version of the registry hack is needed to properly enable the clock frequencies tab starting with Detonator versions 40 and up.

Try NHHARDPAGE.

This may work for you.

It has coolbits already on it.
