why not get a 2nd hand civic or altis nalang?

I'm currently using a mid-size sedan already and really am used to its size and power.

I tried driving my brothers 2000 civic vti rs and it felt like it had less torque/power than my current ride. Plus it didn't feel as good as my car when driving along NLEX and/or SLEX above 100kmh. I find mid-size sedans more stable on highway driving.

I also tried inquiring from mechanics and, in terms of repairing and/or fixing suspension problems, they always find it so hard to make "patino", using their own term, when trying to repair the suspension of the 2001 or newer civics (dimension body).

On the other hand, I really don't like the looks of the Altis (2002 or newer).

yup IMHO the "Dimension" Civic's (ES) are the worst amongst all Civic's due to poor front suspension, etc. but the day-to-day handling is quite better compared to earlier (EK) 1997~ Civic's. oh, and better fuel consumption too thanks to the 3-Stage VTEC, ganda rin ng rev sa dulo. Rear seats are spacious. anyways, we sold it after a few years, dami na rin sira sa pangilalim hehe :)

With my current budget:

Option 1 = 2000 or 2001 Galant
Option 2 = 1999 or 2000 Accord

In case I will be able to further push up my budget

Option 1 = 2003 Camry
Option 2 = 2003 Cefiro
Option 3 = 2003 Accord

according to some users, sirain daw 2000/2001 "shark" Galant or at least hindi ganun kaganda build quality compared to previous Galant's and current generation Galant's, also bad resale value.

the 1999 Accord feels more stable and sportier at the same time, medyo malakas lang sa gas for a Honda, but torque is good for its size. Interior is also very spacious at hindi mukhang tinipid.

regarding Cefiro, it's really one of my fave cars, I like the simple but elegant looks. good torque especially for the 2.4L or up models. but considering Nissan Philippine's reputation, medyo mababa resale value. although that can be a good thing if you're hunting for a bargain.

Really bent on getting an Accord or Galant. What specifically did they say that was "sirain" with the 2000/2001 Galants?

I really like how the 8G galants looks like. Inside the cabin, the Accord looks more luxurious though.

Anybody who drives a 2000 or 2001 Accord here who can give me the pros and cons of that model.

Thanks

That big gaping front grille (audi, nissan GTR, mitsu Evo) seems to be the "look" nowadays. Didn't like it at first, but it looks natural on the GTR

teh R34 looking like a lil civic/corolla/sentra when compared to the new R35.

=). I don't have teh molaahs to buy a skyline so it's not a 'problem' of mine. It's entertaining though to read a bit 'bout these supercars  and know what they can do. Still remember the time when i was following this subaru and s13 going down from tagaytay and was in total awe how these things accelerate on a whim!

(Not that i hate my tsikot, far from it. First car! It serves me well (EK vti civic)- and brings me from point a to b comfortably. Never bogged down on me too and i log 800Kms. a month so i'm rather attached to it. Of course there are greater cars... )

...I guess my sig demands an explanation: I just got burned, burned real bad by that brand be it TV's, radios and pc parts hence my sig... Ironically my phone's an SE, lurv it, and it's still works for four months now. 4 months! Wow! Features-wise it's great so i',m crossing my fingers that it doesn't have the dreaded and infamous sony timer

this joke's from the Azumanga Daioh manga and it reads "don't believe in sony" lol

Will never, ever buy a SONY ever again.

If anyone in the Philippines imports the R35, I wonder where he'll be able to drive it to enjoy its nimbleness.

OT:

We still have our Sony TV which was bought circa 1986-87.
It has been repaired twice during its lifetime when maids accidentally plugged it in 220V sockets.
Remote still works too.

While that may sound like a good idea, if you want to put yourself in danger, don't drag the rest of us. If you can afford an R35, don't be cheap and use a public road. Go rent a track.

As a fan, I honestly don't like how the 1-series looks until I found out about its 2008 model. ^_^

they have 4drs on the hatch..
if they'll bring that here.. they should consider making a 4 dr sedan too.
