Craptastic...this A/C adapter I bought off Lazada fried one of my LG LCDs...

Lazada is the online CDR-King. I have bought a few electronic stuff from Lazada. On close inspection, some have small defects (errors in manufacturing). Not enough to keep them from working but still more than cosmetic defect.

BTW, I just bought a bunch of 12V AC to DC adapters which I will replace ones that have suddenly died in service. One for the Sky cable box and another for the DSL modem.

as in everything else in a physical store, you always get what you pay for when it comes to electronics...

1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8?
for me ping determines the winner...

Code: [Select]
+->$ ping 1.1.1.1
PING 1.1.1.1 (1.1.1.1) 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from 1.1.1.1: icmp_seq=1 ttl=55 time=3.22 ms
64 bytes from 1.1.1.1: icmp_seq=2 ttl=55 time=3.34 ms
64 bytes from 1.1.1.1: icmp_seq=3 ttl=55 time=3.27 ms
64 bytes from 1.1.1.1: icmp_seq=4 ttl=55 time=4.48 ms
PING 8.8.8.8 (8.8.8.8) 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from 8.8.8.8: icmp_seq=1 ttl=57 time=67.3 ms
64 bytes from 8.8.8.8: icmp_seq=2 ttl=57 time=67.6 ms
64 bytes from 8.8.8.8: icmp_seq=3 ttl=57 time=66.2 ms
64 bytes from 8.8.8.8: icmp_seq=4 ttl=57 time=66.2 ms
PING 9.9.9.9 (9.9.9.9) 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from 9.9.9.9: icmp_seq=1 ttl=53 time=55.5 ms
64 bytes from 9.9.9.9: icmp_seq=2 ttl=53 time=55.3 ms
64 bytes from 9.9.9.9: icmp_seq=3 ttl=53 time=61.7 ms
64 bytes from 9.9.9.9: icmp_seq=4 ttl=53 time=58.2 ms

using PLDT, 1.1.1.1 is 20times faster

using Globe, it's not sub 5ms, but 1.1.1.1 is still a /bit/ faster
Code: [Select]
PING 1.1.1.1 (1.1.1.1) 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from 1.1.1.1: icmp_seq=2 ttl=56 time=21.6 ms
64 bytes from 1.1.1.1: icmp_seq=3 ttl=56 time=21.5 ms
64 bytes from 1.1.1.1: icmp_seq=4 ttl=56 time=21.7 ms
64 bytes from 1.1.1.1: icmp_seq=5 ttl=56 time=21.5 ms
PING 8.8.8.8 (8.8.8.8) 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from 8.8.8.8: icmp_seq=1 ttl=56 time=34.6 ms
64 bytes from 8.8.8.8: icmp_seq=2 ttl=56 time=34.2 ms
64 bytes from 8.8.8.8: icmp_seq=3 ttl=56 time=34.0 ms
64 bytes from 8.8.8.8: icmp_seq=4 ttl=56 time=36.9 ms
PING 9.9.9.9 (9.9.9.9) 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from 9.9.9.9: icmp_seq=1 ttl=55 time=274 ms
64 bytes from 9.9.9.9: icmp_seq=2 ttl=55 time=266 ms
64 bytes from 9.9.9.9: icmp_seq=3 ttl=55 time=266 ms
64 bytes from 9.9.9.9: icmp_seq=4 ttl=55 time=228 ms

i checked using mobile data too.  it seems 1.1.1.1 is really faster.  i thought that google dns would still be the best but apparently there is a better dns now
