not PLDT related, but our Globe fiber has been pretty unreliable lately, intermittent connections during peak hours and there was a 4-hour downtime today. sales rep told me line there has been a lot of line upgrades and repairs in our area. i almost miss our stable but ass-slow PLDT dsl haha.

https://www.newegg.com/global/ph-en/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822178951

8TB arrived yesterday, less than 9k including shipping, the cheapest ones I can find here in PH is ~16k

shucked it immediately and put it in my fileserver, and very fortunate to see a Barracuda Pro in it (instead of the shingled archive disk)

The question is, do they perform? Do they feel good? This is putting aside "moralistic" issues. If the replicas are 80% as good as the genuine article, that would be funny.
Point is, you really get what you pay for... Sneakers however are way over priced for what they are methinks.
You might not believe me but they feel really good and very comfortable but as far as performance and durability goes I can't give you an answer 'coz I won't get caught wearing them while balling or working out. Lol!

If this pair lasts a year when wearing them once a week, then, buying them at 1/10th retail, 1/30th resell price I got more than I paid for.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not a proponent of fake stuff this is the first time I've bought something like this for my own personal use but I won't judge anyone who patronizes fakes because not everyone can afford sneakers that costs 10k up. Just don't try to pass them as authentic if anyone asks or worse, sell them as authentic.

I personally use and follow the power tool market and fakes are just trash. Too much vibration on grinders, drills goes kaput too easily when given a challenge, unsafe and overrated batteries on cordless tools.

Makita, Hitachi or Bosch is the way to go. Goes beyond price of ownership, you can really feel the refinement in, say, Sanders.
Machines, tools, electronics are a different thing, they can injure you badly or even kill you, my worst fear wearing this is that the soles suddenly come off in public. hahaha!

roku vs. chromecast?

needs:
low Price
4K (should work here in the PH)
streaming (league pass, netflix, youtube etc)
Plex capable? Don't know if possible

If you want 4K, you're looking at the Chromecast Ultra and the Roku Ultra, or an older Roku Premiere.
Both the Roku Ultra and Chromecast Ultra can stream from a Plex server, but neither of them can host the Plex Media Server.

The Chromecast Ultra is a lot cheaper, but it will require you to initiate the stream from a computer, smartphone, or tablet. Once you have something like Netflix going though, the movie will continue even if you turn off your device.

I'm not sure how much the Roku Ultra costs over there, but I think it's usually more expensive than the 16GB version of NVIDIA SHIELD TV v2. The SHIELD can host Plex Media Server and has no trouble playing back even 4K HEVC content and works great with both GeForce Now or Steam Link app if you want to stream games from your PC. I strongly recommend getting the 16GB version over the 500GB version, since the latter uses a Seagate hybrid drive that's been problematic. If you decide that you need more storage later on for apps, you can expand the storage with an external drive or a USB stick.
