Title: Tell Us What You Want To Read About
Post by: Al on September 04, 2007, 07:33:46 PM
Since late last year, the PinoyPC staff has done what it can to put out articles as regularly and as frequently as possible.

I've seen that we've had our hits and misses with them. On my part alone, I don't consider the CD-R King gamepad article as one of my best, and yet it's one of the more popular ones we've had this year. On the other hand, my online activism article, a personal favorites as a writer, was hardly read at all.

So, with that said, maybe you guys can give us ideas on what articles you want to be written. Or better yet, if you want to write an article yourself, please don't hesitate to ask.

Let's help each other in building PinoyPC into what it should be.

Thanks.

Certain guides will be written in conjunction with the development of our seminar materials.

I echo friendlyfire's. PPC could use more how-to articles. We know a lot of sites already doing those but us locals can benefit for featuring hardware that is available locally.

Regular monthly Buyer's Guide.  Since August didn't have one, you might want to write the September issue.

Hmm... a thought just occurred... How about a videos for the how-tos?  The article would provide the in-depth info while the video should make you see how the thing is done more easily.

I think a bi-monthly buyer's guide would suffice for the local conditions.

Louie finds it more worthwhile to write buyer's guides every other month. I do see the point in it as you won't often see significant changes in the suggested specs within a span of one month.

What I am thinking right now is separating the buyer's guide from the rest of the articles so it can have it's very own module in one of the panes.

I've thought about adding video clips whenever it's appropriate (not just in how-to articles). It's a good idea. But it entails a lot more work.

We'll see.

Keep 'em coming, guys. Thanks.

Errr, yes. Product reviews are our bread and butter at the moment. We'll always have those.

Do you have a particular sort of products in mind aside from what's already there?

You mean reviews of console games? If someone can lend a PS3 or XBox360 for extended periods, puwede. Hehehehe.

Or maybe the owners can opt to write reviews themselves. Hehehe.

Siguro kahit yung mga simple lang tulad lang "How to effectively use google for searching" kahit simple list lang ng sample commands at kung anung ginagawa niya.

medyo somewhat OT siya.

yung sa seminar pala sana merong live broadcast or atleast recording parang podcast para kahit yung mga wala doon kahit paano mapapakingkan.

Give the seminar series a few more runs so that the flow would be more formal and fluid. Then we can record and then upload to youtube or something like that.

A Q&A podcast would probably be cool to do later on.

mga sir, just wondering when you'd be doing a new PC Buyer's guide article for November (and October). Planning on setting up a desktop kasi.

I've totally lost touch of the whole gadget/hardware scene and wala na ako alam sa mga chipsets and processor cores (i'm still on Northwood + intel 850), RAM speeds, and graphics cards.

Maybe it's also a good time to do an article that discusses the technologies that are currently available for those looking into setting up a PC? more on how to choose the correct hardware to build around the processor you choose or the kind of work you wish to do on your system? :D

Can we have more Linux articles? Following the success of a previous PPC Linux seminar, I believe that more Linux articles -- for follow-up of attendees -- should keep them coming back to PPC.
