Desktop vs Notebook 2022
« on: November 15, 2021, 11:17:18 AM »
kung casual gamer kalang at mostly productivity office work ang gawa mo, advisable pabang mag desktop? halos 80% sa office namin now doing electronics cad design & office work ay naka laptop na at yung using desktop ay mostly mga mechanical design.

nag try ako ng ideapad(lowest tier ng lenovo???) 3 Ryzen7 4700U at nagulat ako kasi singbilis or a bit faster sya ng Zbook i7 10th gen sa 3D files ko costing 4X the price.! of course built quality is a different story.

kaya mukhang magiging on-hold muna ang desktop mode ko lalot next year would be very exiting for AMD! Laptops nowadays are truly a desktop replacements

^Sign of the times.

For me personally, I don't think i'll be building a desktop anymore. Those days are gone. Maybe not even a monitor for those lappys with a mux switch. Ultrawide *homer simpson MMMMMmmmmmmm*
Will never, ever buy a SONY ever again.

troot!

eventually those bulky desktop & pesky cables will disappear from the mainstream & builders will be just those hard core desktop junky. my son was teasing me when he saw me looking at motherboards & VGA cards lol, sigh! gone are those days of tinkering.

Before lappies where like for those who can really really afford them, now their just an essential tool for our daily lives brought about by this pandemic & having multiple of them is easier than before, just like cellphones.

I ordered a 14" Thinkpad on 11.11, decent desktop replacement machine (ryzen 5 5650, 16gb ram, 512gb nvme ssd, 1080p IPS screen) but given a choice, I'll still use a desktop just for the screen real estate and anything which takes advantage of a real GPU (mining crypto/gaming/media reencoding).

Recently I've even been RDPing into my work laptop from my personal desktop just so i can use my desktop's peripherals/display.  The laptop is just folded away out of sight.
<insert witty saying or hobby specs here>

I also gave in with a g14 (r9+3060), when i was shopping for replacement for my haswell+960, I'm just going with a 3060, but the price for a laptop and a desktop is almost the same, the  fully spec'd g14 is only 112k (r9/3060/32g/1tb/1440p),the corresponding desktop (not yet built) is around 100k already (without monitor/kb/mouse)

with proper care laptops can also last & be used longer, my lenovo G480 i5 is a 2012 model & till now suffices for web browsing & torenting & with an upgrade with it's RAM + SSD it became a bit fastor!

my office notebook uses two monitors while the notebook is closed, if I had it open i'll be staring at 3 mons. oh technology!
i think i saw it somewhere wherein you can connect a dedicated external VGA card to a laptop for gaming?

I've booted a windows vista era laptop recently. Funny, the toshiba had a 56k modem.

Diba may youtube channel na nag-u unbox ng mga vintage hardware? *nostalgia factor intensifies*
