Threadripper Workstation
« on: November 26, 2020, 04:29:22 PM »
It's been over 10 years since I installed a Windows PC.  I migrated to Mac.  However I recently discovered the difficult hobby of Astrophotography.  I then realized that a lot of the best programs needed to capture and process distant light are Windows-based.  So here I am sharing with you my workstation upgrade from a dual core iMac from 5 years ago to a third gen based 3060 Threadripper.

AMD 3060 Threadripper
Noctua NH-U14S
Asus Prime Pro-S
128 gb Crucial 3200
Samsung 512gb 980
Samsun 2tb 970 pro
MSI 2060 (3 series are out of stock)
Be Quiet Dark Power 1200 watts
Fractal Design Define 7 ATX

Salamat Wheelee!  Ma-try ko nga Crysis >:D

Long exposure photography sya.  You can start with a dslr, a 135 mm lens, a star tracker mount and sturdy tripod.

Weird na pareho tayo ng contact.  Old email ko yun.

Sweeet build! I'm assuming "AMD 3060 Threadripper" meant 3960x?

What software are you running?

Main processing software ko is Pixinsight.  Then LR, PS.
For video, I値l migrate from Final Cut to Premiere.  Pero I値l try DaVinci Resolve.

Size per file is 120 mb.  After stacking over hundred of them almost 1 gig na per file.

DaVinci Resolve is really good :) a bit steeper in the learning curve, but  I find the workflow better with it. :)
