Recommend an Android Media Player
« on: December 06, 2017, 07:24:41 PM »
Im shopping for 2 android media players. A basic one for masters bedroom and another one for the tv room.

Here's the essentials:

1. Android based
2. Must be able to play all file formats
3. Access to tv series and movies on the fly
4. Most importantly, would be able to detect and utilize my existing Probox which houses 4pcs of 4tb.
5. Must have 1yr warranty at least
6. Vendor must have a physical shop

Budget is nothing above 4500 for the master bedroom and nothinf above 10000 for the tv room.

Im new to android boxes, as well as Kodi, so be gentle  :)

Thanks.

your budget seems to be very high.  i would actually suggest you lower your budget.  you could buy the mi box for less than 4k and it should be good enough for both rooms.  being able to play all formats i think should be dependent on the app you are using.  i had vlc not play certain files while another player could.  i actually bought a cheap android box and im fairly satisfied with it.  its a bit slow but when its playing the videos it does not stutter.  with that kind of budget you should make sure you get one with at least 2gb of ram.  lazada is having a sale now so i guess its one of the places you could check out

When I got it, the requirement is that you are suppose to be an existing broadband subs, or should apply for one.

It is suppose to be 1 unit per sub. I guess they are not strict as they allowed me to get 2.

I also bought 2 other units. tx3 pro and Himedia h8 plus to give as gifts.

You guys are right, they are almost all the same, small tweaks and differences only in terms of GUI and speed.

not sure if netflix 4k is in your list of requirements, but there's a list of compatible players.  some android players like my zidoo x9s (which is really great, you can consider this for your tv room) are seen by Netflix as a 'tablet' device so for some reason they limit their videos to 720 or 1080p.

here's the list:

Thanks dom.

However, I don't use Netflix. I am ok already with the add ons of Kodi, Terrarium and Megabox and etc.
