said goodbye to my old TN panel, said hello to IPS

I bought an hdmi cable thinking I had an extra port on the 970, turns out I only had one and the other port was DP, currently running this on vga and will buy an hdmi adapter later, is there a difference between hdmi to dvi vs hdmi to dp?

HDMI to DVI or DVI to HDMI should be cheaper because they are nearly electrically identical. The adapter will be very simple and completely passive.

Here's how the pinouts on DVI correspond to HDMI:

So I picked up a Xeon E3 1230 V3 system with 32gb of ECC SDRAM on a Supermicro micro atx board for like SGD375 (P14k). Gonna do the old CPU switcheroo and slap an i5 in it while the E3 1230 goes to my desktop :P Case is a weird Lian Li with the optical drive mounted facing the side. Seasonic 450w modular 80+ PSU but some cables are missing, hope the seller still kept them. Best hardware deal of the year so far...

Google Home Mini

reviews are real. surprisingly works well! integrates with our Philips Hue at home ("hey google, turn on kitchen lights") and Spotify ("hey google, play eraserheads playlist").

Calendar integration is cool too. My wife and I can set up our different calendar events/reminders/tasks and then share it with each other rather than pooling all of these events in just one calendar.

I'll probably buy a chromecast next to voice command the TV/Netflix/Plex.

A couple of books from the Big Bad Wolf Sale at World Trade Center.

Books for typically less than 200 though it isn't as awesome as we thought it'd be coz it's really tough to find the really popular titles as those fly off the tables in a matter of minutes.

Had to go as early as 6am to get a parking space and avoid the crowds.

About 25L of Caltex Platinum for 52.xx/L. Glad I gassed up on my way home instead of when I left this morning at 5:45 before the rollback took effect.

It's weird how price adjustments were on a Sunday instead of the usual Tuesday morning.
