Is PLDT filtering torrent traffic?more seeders for your torrents probably just log in during those times.
I noticed that torrent speeds go down a lot during early evening, and weekends/holidays. I can safely say that only the torrent speeds are slow because I tried downloading Acad 2009 trial from the Autodesk site and I got 300KBps++.
Maybe it's just me. But I guess it's ok na rin.
Then PPC should be slow for you right now as well
Weird, how can a typhoon affect undersea cable?
Deciding between bayantel and pldt dsl? Any inputs?
hindi maka-konek yung dsl modem ko. sabi ng pldt support, nag-uupgrade sila ngayon ng NGN sa area namin.

happened to me 4 months ago. already bought modem from cdrking. up to now wala pa rin yung replacement modem from pldt na compatible sa new system nila
whoaa... 18 mbps?
is it possible to download at 18 mbps with 768kbps upload?

Download speeds from international servers have been toned down as well...
I used to be able to download at 350 kBps from MS servers... now I barely reach 250 kBps.
but when I test my speed using PLDT's servers, I get 450 to 500 kBps.

my PLDT modem got busted by the power outage last saturday, had to buy a new one since the one year warranty lapsed. Freaking meralco should reimburse me 1.2k for the modem :(
up down up down ako ngayon :(
PLDT agreed to my request to convert our line to NGN, kaso they said we have to change our phone number. ganun ba talaga?
Bumilis sa akin.. naging 1.5Mbps yung PLan 999
A super archaic plan 2500.
From before there was plan 999, 2000 or 3000.
I have a feeling the speed is mostly because we're probably the only subscriber (or one of a few anyways) within a good bit of neighborhood. Been that way for a long while now. Basically we've always had good speed ever since way back (we're either fast, or disconnected hehe).
4Mbps is actually quite high for us. We normally sustain 2Mbps, occasionally spiking up to 3Mbps with multiple downloads (my pc is doing 200kB/s on utorrent, and another 100-150kB/s on jDownloader as i type this) on certain hours of the day.
NGN batard!

Gigabit speed for MyDSL... FTW!!!
bakit kaya ganon ang SmartBro namin naka connect naman pero ayaw mag laod ng mga pages, it happened after nung very strong thunder storm nung SAT.
ito na kaya ang CAP na sinasabi? dami na kasing na DL eh
I so love MyDSL during extended holidays...
I was able to download 1.2 GB in 33 minutes. lol
I'm getting 5 mbps too now but is experiencing disconnections. The connection does not actually break but I won't be able to surf if I don't restart the modem and the router
those with 3.5 mbps plans, what speed do you usually get?
That is delicious ping you have there!
Tumataas ang packet loss dito sa Cainta pag gabi at pag maraming simultaneous connections. I am using a Linksys WRT610N V2 router running Tomato firmware. Torrent rig is a DNS-323.
Pag nag-torrent ka kahit when you are just seeding at hindi sagad ang bandwidth, may 1%-5% packet loss. It was tested using pingtest.
Is there a problem with the Internet pipe from PLDT server going to the main Internet backbone (ie. those that connect to Microsoft/nVidia/AMD)?
i use pldt dsl (plan 1299 with phone) for dragon nest and downloads. no complaints other than of course, download speed is slow compared to other, better plans. location is san pedro laguna.
I'm getting frequent disconnections (approx every 10 minutes)for the past two days. It takes 2-3 minutes to get connected again so it has not been a good 2-3 days here.
BTW, I am now at plan 999, still getting 1.5mbps. I've been getting 1.5mbps when I was in plan 3000. downgraded to plan 2000 and still got 1.5mbps. Now I guess I am getting what I paid for. (I got charged 500 pesos for downgrading fee)
ask the tech how far you are from the DSLAM so you can at least check the maximum theoretical speed you could have
btw, already reported to pldt. I hope they can fix this soon. the 50 pesos per day smart unlisurf is my saviour but medyo magastos.

Wow, ang tagal niyo na pala DSL user..
In my case, my PLDT DSL started with Efficient Networks SpeedStream 5100 DSL modem. However, its power brick adapter burned out once, which was replaced (the power adapter only) by the PLDT technician. During another occasion when I complained about degraded speed, I think the PLDT DSL technician suggested to replace the old DSL modem to the PLDT Zyxel P660R-D1 (the earlier black model); so far it seems to be pretty stable.. (have updated the firmware a couple of times already -- from stock PLDT-modded firmware to Zyxel-official firmware, then updated once more to an updated PLDT-modded firmware which I found from the Internet)

yes.
Apparently, they're giving all plans a slight bump up in speed.

has anyone applied for a dsl plan lately?
i applied for a plan last monday (1.5mbps, 999 + landline on top) and they said it would take 2-3 weeks to install. how come it's taking a while now, diba dati days lang? ortigas area. i can't apply for any other provider since the condo is exclusive to pldt daw.
matatapos na May di pa rin na-uupgrade.
I requested for a cable change from the post to our house...
results were quite unbelievable...
and I'm on what they consider as a long loop subscriber... 3.2Km from the DSLAM
You guys better stop hogging all the bandwidth, lol. Our PLDT connection is so bad lately. The DSL signal doesn't go but the default gateway keeps dropping packets like it's nobody's business. Technician on the other end of the line had no idea what I'm talking about.
^ PLDT's Zyxel allows switching of adsl protocols - albeit one needs to use telnet to accomplish it.

my SNR with G.dmt goes up to 10db but upload speed always goes down to ~ 0.65 mbps...
modem DSL status always lists 850 kbps as maximum attainable upload rate while in ADSL2 and ADSL2+ it's 1100 kbps
max attainable download rate however does up to 10xxx - 12xxx kbps on G.dmt while it's down to 6xxx - 8xxx with ADSL2/+
good thing my dsl is still stable at my plan, 999
Coincidence? When I was using the PLDT WIFI modem, my WAN IP range started with a 49 but now on the Zyxel modem it's on an IP starting with a 112. I wonder if there's any difference.

Congrats! So there are still PLDT DSL that are using PPPoE these days? Our PLDT DSL was on PPPoE during the first 1 or 2 years of subscription (medyo mabagal and there are somewhat regular downtimes), but ever since it was switched to DHCP, there were much less downtimes experienced -- that was already about 3 years ago, IIRC.
Quotesobrang taas ng attenuation sir louie. ano dsl speed mo and ano ang attain na nakukuha?
What kind of attenuation values should we look for? Would using a different ADSL modem possibly also affect attenuation values (eg. instead of the PLDT Zyxel DSL modem, say using a different brand DSL modem/router)?

too bad if Globe service is superb in your area... otherwise, you'd be getting an extra 1mbps of headache.
since sa DSL, bandwidth distribution happens at the nodes and links between nodes are in the gigabit speeds.
sa cable internet, distribution occurs at the service location so more subscribers mean more severe slowdowns.

Is it possible to go with this setup? I have two DD-WRT flashed routers that I would want to use.

I'm located at Sta Cruz but our connection is from Sampaloc. I did not experience any connection problem within the past weeks.
...balak ko pa namang palitan yung smartbro namin ng PLDT
hmmmmm
how long does PLDT replace faulty modems? our modem's power button kept blinking and i gave a call right away to 171.
mabilis naman ang sagot sa 171 and they said within 24-48 hours, pero natuto na tayo wag maniwala :D sana mabilis dito sa ortigas.

3 weeks na walang dial tone ang phone namin, this is already the 4th week.
I bought the squareish one months ago. Web interface always died coz of all the torrents and wifi.. Couldn't accept their support staff saying that was normal. Am back to the old dlink modem.
Nah, my internet connection doesn't die... nor do my torrents. Its just the web setup page of this particular router/modem dies ... to get it back, hard reboot.
@ris
Try to disable some files in the torrent then download them when the other files in it are done. With my 5354U CDRK router, this works. It's been 3 yrs with me, truly bang for the buck.
^ I'd go with disabling some trackers first. There are some torrents that pile on dozens of trackers, most of them broken. You only really need one, so just pick a tracker with a good amount of seeds/peers, and remove everything else.
Next step is limiting the number of connections per torrent.
^ I'd go with disabling some trackers first. How do you do that with Tomato-based router downloads?
guys need your opinion, tapos na ang contrata namin sa Smartbro, so far ok naman ang mga speed at connections but now i'm planning to switch to PLDT MYhome, would ity be a better alternative or should I just continue to use Smartbo?
tnx for your opinions.
Anyone else having difficulty accessing certain websites?
Been having difficulty accessing sites since last night, including TPC and EBay.
Weird kasi, yung ibang pages ng EBay ayaw mag-open (both .com and .ph), pero yung iba nabubuksan naman. Problem ko lang ay hindi ko ma-access yung personal page ko.
^ best not to tell them that your speed really is... you might wake up one day with the 512 kbps speed they told you. lolwhat i mean is, it's already suspicious enough that they do not know my current speed, and they are suggesting that i upgrade to a plan with 2.5 mbps, which as far as i know, doesn't exist.
It's not really a scam, per se, it's just that your billing profile (as against your dsl account profile) probably still reflects your previous 512 kbps dsl plan.

speaking of not existing, i just checked the mydsl website and it says that plan 1299 is only 1 mbps, but i swear i saw it before that it's 2 mbps.

somebody from PLDT's marketing gave me call, saying that my DSL is only 512 kbps (it's actually 1 mbps) and that they will upgrade to 2.5 mbps for an additional P550 pesos and that they'll throw in a Wifi modem too. They are just those marketing agents trying to add customers to their resume. They get commission for every approved subscription/upgrade. They don't have the power to upgrade/degrade your connections.
is this some sort of scam or what? lol
Not really surprising with PLDT involved... every now and then, I still get offers for DSL service add-in... and I've been a DSL subscriber for the past 10 years.^ best not to tell them that your speed really is... you might wake up one day with the 512 kbps speed they told you. lolwhat i mean is, it's already suspicious enough that they do not know my current speed, and they are suggesting that i upgrade to a plan with 2.5 mbps, which as far as i know, doesn't exist.

Actually, they submit discrepancy reports to PLDT's marketing/sales department - which in turn forward the discrepancies to PLDT''s datanet for profile reconciliation. And sometimes, datanet does find a discrepancy and restores the reported account profile to the proper/correct configuration.
okay so today i gave PLDT a call today to know why my plan 1299 wasn't still upgraded to 2 mbps. i was quite worried because in the pldt website 1299 is 1 mbps, when it was clearly stated before that it's 2 mbps. also the technician who went to my house to see the ping problem told me that 2 mbps will apply only to new subscribers.
the pldt rep assured me that my line will eventually be upgraded to 2 mbps, and like when i called a month ago she said that it should be done by the end of october.
i guess i will have to be patient.

Got basically the same email i.e. my Plan 999 is now up to 3Mbps.
Sounds like someone desperate to get you off the phone lol.
just checked the speed today:
looks like the upgrade finally went thru for me. I'm currently on plan 1999.
You need to get your line attached to a PowerPack to boost it higher... but they only do that if you're suppose to get 3-5Mbps, caveat a really noisy line...
Got home and tested mine today, location is SJDM, Bulacan:

so in short, you didnt get the speed boost? are you still on legacy line? or ngn?
I didn't call or complain to PLDT.

No I'm on Plan 999 @ 1Mbps. I don't know if its NGN or legacy.
*grumbles about phone service still not being restored after 3 weeks, still no DSL speed boost and annoying high ping*
PLDT's connection was on and off this morning, then when it stabilized i noticed that web pages loaded faster than before. i ran speedtest and....
holy cow 0 ping! i must have broken some law of physics there. that aside, DL speed went up from my usual 1 mbps. i hope this is the upgrade i was promised. i'll know when i turn off the modem later and try to reconnect.
what i really care about is the stability of my connection. my most demanding OL activity is not downloading files, but playing OL games. speaking of which, my connection seem to have stabilized now. i hope this will be so for a long, long while, like for the next 5 years.PLDT's connection was on and off this morning, then when it stabilized i noticed that web pages loaded faster than before. i ran speedtest and....

its the same as my speed. and im on plan 999. my ping is also 0 now. one of the things i read regarding this is to not turn off the modem for a long time so that the connection gets "memorized" somehow. so the next time you connect you would still get the same speed.
i got that 1.7mbps when i kept bugging pldt tech support for a WEEK! the pldt tech said that its the maximum he could give me. unless im okay with changing phone numbers there is nothing he could do to increase my speed cause there are no lines available anymore for ngn connections. im still on legacy line btw
I don't get why PLDT is forcing subscribers to change numbers... all their equipment use transparent modes
^ try running pingtest.net to a region where the games you play are hosted.1 ms jitter. wierdly, pingtest says my ping is 300+ ms (to singapore), while ping www.cherrycredits.com says 150+.
jitter is one of the hidden menaces of online gaming. your ping might appear to be low, but if it has high jitter it could still mean stuttery action.
welcome to club 10Mbps! thanks! even if i fear this will only last a few days at the most. should i tell PLDT that everything's fine on my end and that they should stop trying to fix it?

@lahar
Transmission (from my Tomato-flashed router) usually reports when there is no more disk space. To be sure, I also checked for any leftover files in the ".incomplete" folder. As for seeds, I limit UL speeds to 10KiB/s.
Now that you mentioned storage, I'm thinking that since I've been using the same 8GB flash disk for almost a year now, perhaps it's already having write issues?
@ris
My current setup is a 2 month-old PLDT wifi modem (with wireless turned off) -> CDRKing router -> PC/smartphone/etc and I never had these problems before. I also suspected port forwarding problems so I put my CDRKing router's IP in the PLDT wifi modem's DMZ. Do you think that'll fix any port forwarding issues? I don't want to set my PLDT modem to bridge mode since I would like it to be as easy as possible to switch to it as backup wifi in case the CDRKing router conks out.
May fair use policy na ba ang PLDT?
^
Actually, I've already downloaded a couple of other files within this week leaving the router on for most of the day and sometimes overnight. Whenever I view the torrent queue, I always see that it's at 1.0KiB/s (UL seems to be normal) then just when I least expect it, tapos na pala ang download. So I guess, the speed somehow goes up to respectable speeds when I'm not watching.
BTW, all other browsing activities (HTTP, YouTube) are unaffected by whatever is going on with my connection.
I'll try replacing the flash disk tomorrow with a microSD card reader and a 16GB Class 4 microSD.
Anybody mind explaining why everything's slowing down? I thought the break was between Vietnam and the US, bakit nadamay buong asia? As in yung connections namin sa Japan, China at ibang "local" servers bumagal din.
^ Using flash is more expensive in the long run. If you use it as a scratch drive the number of writes will kill the NAND pretty quickly, and for bulk storage HDDs are cheaper per GB. I have a bunch of dead flash sticks and SD cards just from shuttling backups back and forth between systems.
Remember that NAND is addressed in blocks, so your flash drives/SD cards have a minimum block size. Whenever you write to the drive, the minimum write size is actually in multiples of the block size, rounded up. A torrent client writing a newly downloaded chunk of 256kB will actually be writing something like 4MB (typical block size of SD cards 8GB and up) each time.
As for download speed, I'm currently downloading an old torrent with two seeds and one other leecher:
that seems to be also happening on my end. but those files only have a few seeders. btw, flash disk pala gamit mo sa torrents. para sa durability ba yun kaya ginagawa mo yan or is there another reason? kasi ako direct to sata hdd ako mag torrent.
torrents slow, but websites, youtube load fast. da heck.same here. Since the start of holiday season up to now.
torrent is slow on mydsl. downloading from iptorrents using mydsl (3mbps) line and I only get around 560kbps. Switched to Globe's 3g, and I get 5mbps.
if this continues, I might as well stop the service
^ I'm using Globe and I've never been capped. Downloading 8GiB per day.
I've actually started turning off my PC because the phone is now my primary download platform.

Bang for the buck get an unlimited data plan + LTE for torrents. 20-30Mbps download for P999 = win! Downside is it goes through your battery just as quickly.
Vuze's RC4 encryption is working... even with two different uTorrent clients open (NAS and OSX), the traffic was gagged by PLDT, Download = Upload seems to be the formula. As soon as I started Vuze, configured the RC4 encryption, boom... 200+ Kb/s download... of the same file. So, !@)$()@(#@ you PLDTenglish please.
Yes, go use Azureus (now Vuze) instead of uTorrent and enable RC4 encryptioncopy that, now downloading...
I don't think uTorrent was RC4. I have it on my NAS and just installed it on this iMac, with several videos in queue, the total download seems to hover near the total upload from both clients. In my case 40+ kb/s across two clients, up and down.ok, but now i'm using vuse and followed instruction to enable rc4. i still get low speed.
I noticed over time, the rate does go down... even on Vuze. Simple solution i have is to release the IP and get a new/different one... and it's back to full speed.err... meaning reset the modem? because that happens to me too.
I don't need to reset my modem to get a new IP, I just renew the leased DHCP IP addresss. (using a Tenda W300D ADSL modem/wifi AP now, since my old DLink DSL-520T popped a cap and doesn't work anymore).but for noobs like me, resetting the modem does the trick, yes?

I just received a letter from PLDT that my line is being migrated to NGN and will be finished by early next month. The repair guy that I talked to last weekend said the migration is probably the reason why my line (and 3Mbps connection) somehow "got lost". Still on 1.03Mbps until now.
OT:
Perhaps the advantage of going through agents is they know someone on the inside who can expedite things for them.
8th day today no dialtone
definitely get a refund! at oo nga pala. dapat mga 1 to 2 days lang may nag contact na sayo na taga pldt ah. dito kasi sa akin immediately the next day or sometimes within the day tumatawag na ang technician.

requested for transfer of line, does it really take this long (2 weeks and counting)? :(
line. we moved condos.

you mean from legacy to ngn? depende pa ata sa mood ng technician yan eh. sakin hanggang ngayon legacy parin at 1.5mbps. sinabihan pa ako na kung gusto ko daw gawin ngn yung line papalitan daw nya phone number ko.
Finally!!! DSL is back
The Fuse at Cabinet 12 for our Utag 49 account was @%# defective. A modem change didn't fix the DSL, filter change, nope, config change, nope... pull out the fuse, boom, dsl signal is back.

I had mine moved from legacy to NGN without changing phone numbers! You might want to go directly to the PLDT office to complain about this. Even then it might take some explaining to the customer service rep.
equipment failure coupled with again, a PLDT engineer, mucking our connection configuration.
gave up on getting a PLDT line at our new house. Applied for globe dsl, within 3 days nakakabit na 5mbps @ 1599 pesoses
kaso had to pester globe CS to get them to give us our full 5mbps, kasi 3mbps lang siya nung ikabit. Pero at least meron sumasagot sa CS ng globe, sa PLDT maputi na buhok mo naghihintay ka pa din.
I miss having my own IP address
10GB/day then it goes down to 1.5mbps.
not an issue for me since I don't download much anymore and I have my smart prepaid LTE for the big downloads in case I need to.
my mydsl line at my old house (connected since 2002) was only giving me 500kbps on a supposed 1.5mbps plan999.
kahit anong complain di nila inaayos. Then they told me I need to pay for transfer to our new address. so I just applied for a new line but then there were no more lines available. Sa pikon ko pinaputol ko na lang yun existing namin sa old house namin (nandun pa parents ko kaya sila gagamit dapat). We just had their existing pldt line upgraded to plan 1299 combo pare meron sila internet pang facebook. nakatipid pa ako
With harddrive and electricity rates steadily going up, I only download 1-2 tv shows and/or movies a day. kasya na kami sa 10GB. then kung mag FUP man, kaya pa naman mag youtube ng 1.5mbps. di puwede mawala youtube ni yaya, baka lumayas. hehehe
Sa PLDT kasi yung 2k wala pang kasama na landline, sa globe meron na mas mura pa. Pero yung 1 year lock-in lang kinuha ko para pag nagloko globe dito sandali lang hihintayin ko pwede na paputol. By that time baka meron na available PLDT line.
Wala pa bang Fibr sa inyo? Yun lang ang nakapagpaayos ng problema ko sa myDSL.

DSL is currently teh suckerz...
^ walang bayad ang migration... and afaik, you don't need to make a request letter for it either.
ang may bayad lang is downgrading to a lower plan, if you're requesting it before the end of the "lock-in period".
in all my transactions with PLDT, the only formal letter of request that ever made was for the transfer of my phone number from our old address to the new one... since then, I've never set foot inside their business center.

Torrents are really slow in the daytime. But it seems to speed up at night. I usually queue about 4 or 5 torrents (1 download at a time only) and by evening, not even 1 download gets finished. However, when i check again in the morning, all torrent DLs are already done.

There is a cable cut in the Asia America Gateway cable system that was reported last week. It's possible that this could be affecting our torrents.
^ are you guys using encryption on your torrent transfers?
it seems that PLDT throttles torrents the moment the clock hits 8 am. dunno for how long this would last.
i seem to recall when a cable previously got damaged some people here suggested using Vuse and do something to the settings and it worked. i reformatted my HD twice since, i erased the settings.
anyone who knows about that trick? thanks!
I use utorrent haven't noticed any slow downs but I do have IPv6/Teredo installed.
Yep that should be it.
Guess the encryption level isn't enough to get through packet inspection.
Maybe try Calvin's ipv6 tunnel method? It's basically about setting your torrent client to use ipv6, then routing traffic through a 6to4 gateway. Apparently the encapsulation is enough to break packet inspection.

how exactly do you do that? after tweaking things in my router and os, i am now on restricted nat. previously i get an error saying that "client is behind symmetric nat". after enabling dmz i already get the "qualified" status. but the last part has nat --- restricted. is it already enough to get through?
Yep that should be it.i can't even comprehend how to do that. lol

modem's on bridge mode and my torrent machine is in DMZ.
Your PC has to be connected direct to internet (because IPv6 doesn't like being behind NAT).
If you're on a router, this means putting your PC in the DMZ, or setting the router to not connect, and instead do that via your PC.
Set the router address to be 192.168.x.2, then your PC as 192.168.x.1. Router can still act as an AP and switch, but have your PC take care of connecting to and sharing the internet connection. Set router's DHCP server to still give out addresses, but use your PC as the default gateway and internet should still be transparent to other clients.
Yep that should be it.i can't even comprehend how to do that. lol

i saw a YT video on how to prevent ISPs from throttling torrents. it appears i missed ticking on the "lazy bitfield." it helped somewhat because now instead of 10 kbps i am getting 50 kbps. still a far cry from my usual 200+ kbps though.
At this time, mabilis ang torrents ko. Actually I am downloading only 2 files. It's downloading between 200KB/s to 300KB/s. I am on plan 999 3mbps. On inspection, the torrent box is downloading from only a couple of fast peers. Maybe it's the number of connections not the protocol that is triggering packet shaping.lemme test. how can i configure vuze to do that? thanks!
^^^I am using Transmission 2.84 on my Linkstation NAS. I didn't change anything except forced encryption. It was still being affected by traffic shaping. Swerte lang siguro that there were a few fast uploaders today on the files I was downloading.oh ok. in the meantime, MAoS downloads at a glacial 4 kbps. bukas na nga lang ng umaga ko ito tatapusin.
me switched to qbtI think DSL DL speeds are all back to normal. I didn't change a thing and I'm getting close to max speed.
me fast again
great!
Is PLDT limiting torrent traffic? Mine doesn't work right now. Something to do with Smart's promo free internet?

When I heard reports from others that their myDSL was being throttled, I double checked to see if my download speeds were affected, torrents and http downloads. I didn't see any difference or degradation of quality on my part. *ahem* So is throttling legal here in the Philippines?
I'm with the "no throttling" crowd. I start torrents at any time of day, go away for a cup of tea and come back the file is done.
My downloads just now:

does anyone here get upload speeds above 1mbps? im wondering if pldt would give anyone half of the download speed as upload speed. isnt that the standard for adsl? if you have 10mbps, then you should actually have 5mbps upload right? it seems everyone gets less than 1mbps and usually about 512kbps for uploads

sabi ng SMartBroken by dec papalitan na nila ng PLDT yung mga line tapos babalik sa P999 yung plan e nag renew kami ng contract at P840 for 24mos tapos wala pang 1yr. itataas nila ulit ng P999 - pwede ba yun?
may naka experience na nito?
DSL filter is starting to fail, I can hear the modem negotiating its link through the phone side.
Any place to buy one locally? Or call PLDT and ask them to replace it?
It's free w/ PLDT

The ISP provides this for free. Digitel gave me one over the counter when I said mine was broken, no questions asked.
I've had the same splitter/filter since I subscribed to MyDSL 10 years ago... All techs who have checked my line only look at it and put it back on.

If you don't hear your DSL model negotiating a link over the phone handset then it's still good.
Each phone is supposed to have a separate filter depending on how your phone cabling is set up.
That, I don't know. But from your setup a single filter should work. But as long as your DSL doesn't disconnect you should be fine.
They do it via packet shaping, I think. Have you tried ipv6 tunnels to see if it works?
Okay lang daw setup mo sabi dito:

Damn Globe! DSL na nga may capping pa rin.
Yeah that's one thing I hate about Globe. I can't even maximize a 2MBps connection because of the daily cap.

Was watching twitch.tv all day using mobile, can confirm that Globe's FUP isn't really implemented here. I got the FUP notification, but connection kept chugging along at 3G/LTE speeds. Didn't even notice the FUP message until much later, because video streams were never interrupted.
FUP notice arrived around 3pm:

It's not a thing with my SIM either, because I went to Eastwood and my connection there was indeed limited to Edge mode only. >:D
Ah but I'm on Smart LOL. Office switched providers after the CEO kept getting problems receiving SMS messages on Globe the other year.

but when I use a proxy, I am able to view the site... can anyone on MyDSL please check if the site is accessible from your end.
I just want to make rule out a problem on my end before I start berating PLDT. lol.

I can ping and trace to their host too... the page just doesn't load on all 3 browsers( IE, Firefox and Chrome).
I've used 3 different PCs; Windows server, Win7 and Ubuntu... even my android won't load the page.
So I'm thinking it's either PLDT's blocking it or the host has blocked my IP... Now since you can all access the page, then it must be the latter.
does the DSL light blink when it gets disconnected?
Heat related?
hello first time poster
using mydsl with 5mb plan (5 years)
as of late my connection has been unstable...modem wise...it kept disconnecting/reconnecting for some reason whereas I could surf 24/7 back then without any problem (zyxel p600hn modem)
speed wise, still the same
some say it's the modem dying...but i don't know...since there are times the connection will be consistent...sometimes it won't....:(

Have it replaced. You got the same symptoms as I did 2 months ago, until it refused to reconnect anymore last month.
does the DSL light blink when it gets disconnected?
it would just simply disappear really...any significance with the blinking??

If it blinks the problem isn't on your end, this means your DSL modem is syncing with the DSLAM (most likely due to a problem on PLDTs side)... but if the light simply goes out, then it could be a sign of a failing modem.

went to their office, said they don't have modem supplies

Unfortunately, yan din experience ko. Keep mo yung issue ticket number. Yan ang gagamitin mo everytime tatawag ka. Diyan sila nag-rerely instead of your name and account number. It took me a week before they actually sent a technician. Hindi ka rin bibigyan ng PLDT office ng modem (even if you offer to pay for it), because get this: You are a high-speed account holder! Free lifetime modem replacement, and you have to wait for a technician to actually certify your modem is kaput, even if its already obvious.
white din sakin. pero its a prolink brand as indicated sa baba ng modem na label. binigyan ka ng dalawang microfilter?

ako sir nabigyan ng modem sa office nila. pumunta ako personally at ang nangyari ay pina recontract lang ako. naka lock in ulit ako ng 2 years ata. not sure kung 1 or 2 years basta recontract lang ang nangyari. may pinapirmahan at pinalitan yung modem. at ang kinukuha daw nila ay yung modem, adaptor at splitter lang. kung meron kang micro filter di nila kukunin yun. malamang di nila kukunin kasi alam nila kalokohan ng mga techs nila. based sa mga nakikita ko di binibigay ng techs ang microfilter pag di mo sinabi na may extension ka. pero nasa loob naman ng box yun. so ang pwede mo gawin ay wag mo na dalhin yung microfilter para may 2 extra ka pa if ever the ones you have fail.
and also, if you are going to pay for a modem it might as well not be from pldt. pwede ka na bumili ng mas magandang brand with more functions

yeah 2 filters
im wondering, is the warmth of the modem right now something i shouldn't worry about? it is kinda hot for a little thing...is that alright?

Yes its is rather hot. I mounted mine vertically using an old external HDD stand.

You've been duped... modem replacement is free if you're on MyDSL's High Speed Plans. (mainly because you don't own the modem, PLDT still does... so it's their responsibility to replace it every time it conks out without any additional charges to the subscriber).
Lock-ins are only required if you're applying for an upgrade/downgrade while your existing plan is still active.
Sana talaga makapasok na yung ibang players. It really riles me that I pay the same fees for 3% of the advertised bandwidth.

what exactly happens when they say your line is included in a "migration activity" and why does it take 2-4 weeks?
migration normally lasts up to 4 weeks...
in fairness to them, it's not easy migrating from an ATM/DSLAM to an IP/MPLS system.

Telstra.huh... malamang yang new competitor na yan sa mga exclusive villages lang.
Here's hoping they're here to compete for reals, not just make waves and then get bought out (like Sun).

Yup, Fibr is still only covered in exclusive villages unfortunately. Globe's Fiber too, attached to certain condos only. No FTTH implementation it seems.bad trip
I guess I am reallly fortunate that our village out in the sticks has squatters nearby that keep stealing copper lines.
Just got Skybroadband 50Mbps Bundle installed in the house. using the Wifi as WAN mode of our Peplink MAX OTG router to add it into the pool of bandwidth available (PLDT DSL 8/1, Smartbro 20/7, and sometimes Globe LTE in 3G mode 3/0.2) Good thing this load balancer is good for up to 100Mbit.
I heard PLDT was getting an upgrade again starting next month, for the 3k plan to 10down from the current 8. though, I really needed the upload to go up.
i guess no boost for us on plan 1299 landline+dsl?

tagal nang 2 mbps sa akin eh.

not bad. akala ko sa end of time pa mag uupgrade ng speed PLDT para sa plan 1299.
do we need to call PLDT to tell them to upgrade our plan? diba dati kasi marami d automatic na-upgrade
Thanks for the link. Kelan ba huli nag-speed boost ang PLDT, 2012-2013? Wow at the rate of 2Mbps/3 years! LOL! I hope Plan 999 reaches 100Mbps before my grandkids are born.tagal nang 2 mbps sa akin eh.
ang nakita ko promo PLDT 1299 landline + DSL 10 MBPS pero 50 MB cap. wag na lang.
april 2016 pa pala ang upgrade mo. hehehe

soooo today is march 1 and our plan 999 dsl plan is still 3mbps.Mine too. Strange though, at times my torrents would spike to 1Mbps for a few minutes, then go down to the "normal" 350kbps. Baka praise release lang yung speedboost.

As it turns out there are two DSLAMs servicing our area. One is 1400M away, the other 1850M (distances according to the modem's built-in info tool).
Most often the modem will go to the 1850M DSLAM, and typical speeds are 9-10.5Mbps down, .09-1.0Mbps up
The 1400M one is very hard to get, but when we we do get it speeds are 12-13Mbps down, 1.1-1.2Mbps up

I'm 2450 meters away from my DSLAM so techs put a 5 mbps cap on my account... if they removed the speed cap, my modem frequently loses sync... this was after some "know-it-all" engineer migrated my legacy account to the "better, more improved and stable" New Generation Network. Before the migration, my speed was stable at 10mbps / 3mbps 24/7.

Speed upgrades are currently on hold, according to my mole... apparently, the current network configuration is incapable of supporting the upgrade without adversely affecting their enterprise customers. She says upgrades will resume as soon as network engineers solve the issue.
For some reason, Verizon's FIOS here in MD connects better to Skybroadband's Speedtest servers than PLDT's for some odd reason. And it really shows in real world use based on Facetime/Hangout use. (Gawd, I'm gonna miss this FIOS when I get back home next week)

There is not much on IPv6 web wise. By default, the browser uses IPv4 if it is available. Try this url.
http://test-ipv6.com/
If you're running a IPv6 aware torrent client on the PC then it's able to connect to other IPv6 clients through teredo tunneling courtesy of Windows 10. It gets you through whatever traffic shaping of your ISP.
Bumalik na sa dati, baka may naputol lang na kable sa ilalim ng dagat ehehehe. [emoji14]Change has come. I'm not so sure if I'm really on 5Mbps (more or less) now. On average, torrents still run like I'm on 3Mbps with occasional bursts equivalent to 5Mbps.
Question to people on PLDT Fibr - What are the changes if I upgrade from DSL to FIBR. Is it real fiber-to-home or does it still make use of copper in the last leg to the house?
Major bummer - I renewed my Telpad plan late last year because I was told there was no timetable yet for Fibr in my area. Now I learned that my neighbor was installed a Fibr connection last week. Now PLDT is quoting me several thousand pesos to pre-terminate my contract and switchover to Fibr.
Question to people on PLDT Fibr - What are the changes if I upgrade from DSL to FIBR. Is it real fiber-to-home or does it still make use of copper in the last leg to the house?
Fiber to home as far as I know. The cable going to the modem is not CAT 3

I can attest to this. Just had fibr installed, after 6 weeks of basically arguing every time I call to migrate my dsl to fibr. They will cut your existing copper wires and install a new line and obviously a new modem.
If your paying 3700 for 8mbps dsl+landline, like I did, you should switch over to fibr. My new plan is now 2899 for fibr+landline. Saved 800 and get 100mbps (current promo for 6 months but will go back to 50mbps.
Now the only thing I need to figure out is how to get the full speed on my wireless router. The technician said that they are only getting around 40ish when connected wireless. Tested on lan cable and I'm getting 98mbps on speedtest. I'm using an asus n66U router which can go up to 300mbps. Maybe I should switch to an ac router.
im still on 5mbps. but the connection is not very stable. i was actually thinking it was the phone lines inside the house that has a problem before.
i gave PLDT a call. seems like there's indeed a promo to upgrade from 2 mbps to 4 mbps but with telepad, which will cost me an additional P400. i asked what my other options are, and i was told the next upgrade would be plan 999 upgrade to 5mbps and would add P300 to my bill.Hintay ka na lang maa-upgrade din yan. Plan 1299 lang din ako pero 5Mbps (well, almost) na.
i also asked if PLDT has any scheduled plans to upgrade plan 1299's speed for free. i was told there's none.
ah well, i am not a heavy downloader anyway so i won't upgrade.

I think the new phone that comes with the Fibr connection acts more like an IP phone now.

so if i switch to fibr i would also need to change my phone number? would it be possible for me to just continue using my copper connection but the outside line uses fiber optic cables?

Not sure. I believe they can program it so you can still keep the old number. For the lines, you mean you want to keep the extension phonelines? I'm not sure either since all the calls appear to go through the modem now, and that in effect acts as a "splitter".

Just noticed that speed drops from 5Mbps to around 2Mbps whenever it rains.
Our phone line was already rusted according to the tech who fixed our dead landline phone last week. Insulation must still be pretty bad for it to be affected by water.

my plan 1299 landline + DSL is now up to 3 Mbps (from 2 Mbps). at this rate, it will reach 5 Mbps in around 8 years.

3mbps na ba ang standard sa 1299? kelan pa? or sayo lang? haha
One of my co-workers recently said that their neighbors are able to connect to their pldtmydsl wifi router even when he keeps changing the password.
I got curious and tried some WPS hack apps from the Play Store. I tried it on our pldt router and the app showed me the wpa2 password when WPS is enabled. I tried it on other wps-enabled wireless networks within our area and it seems the other brands like ZTE and Askey do not have the vulnerability.
Just thought I'd share this. If you're using pldt's wireless router, disable WPS.
Anyways, I'm gonna see if this app just picked up the supposedly "hacked" password from my own phone.

not bad...
Not 10.x.x.x?
100.x.x isn't a reserved block so it should be a real address. Might be some other sort of funky routing going on.
Like ris my public ip starts with 124 but my router shows it starts with 100. Multiple refreshes of whatismyip.com shows different locations. Before, i noticed that my public and router IP started with 10. I also read multiple posts in tipidpc saying the same thing. So it seems CGN is now being used at least for our areas. What a PITA :( will try tunngle.
While we're at it our connection has slowed down to 4 mbps for a few weeks already grrr
^ The 100.x address doesn't look like CGN to me, and is more likely a routing error or worst case an MITM attack. 100.x is a US IP block and belongs to Verizon.
CGN addresses are usually 10.x.x.x.
Turning off the modem for it to reconnect to the DSLAM doesn't change the IP or remove the transparent proxy?
Sa Fibr connection namin sa bahay kasi pareho din yung Internet IP sa IP na binabato ng PLDT sa router namin.

the 100.x.x.x ip changes and so does the external ip. my trick on changing ip still does work but i just get the one starting with 100.76.x.x. while the one detected by websites is 124.106.x.x. they change at the same time as far as i know
i wonder if using a work VPN will still work with CGN?

Getting only 3.5Mbps instead of 5.
Same here for 1699 bundle plan. It happened after they switched from public IPs to the private ones.
I checked the ADSL modem status page. The downstream data rate was reduced to only 4000kbps. It was well above 6000kbps before to allow for protocol overhead. How can you possibly get 5mbps if the DSL line is physically throttled to 4mbps?
Any idea when they started with private IPs? I also have around 4100 kbps downstream data rate on my modem. I sure hope this is temporary.

you can go to your nearest pldt business center to have them replaced for free. just bring it there and they will immediately give you a new one. well, thats what i did before. i didnt even bother to fall in line since it takes a few seconds for them to give you a new one. no papers needed to be signed
^ they're putting all residential accounts behind CGNAT... because they're still having problems switching to IPv6.
And apparently, a lot of their equipment haven't arrived yet so MyDSL subscribers are sharing bandwidth with mobile Data users.
We lost the DSL signal at home at around 1pm. Dial tone is still there. If there is no DSL by tomorrow morning, I am calling PLDT service.
I see this as an opportunity to have them correct the low downstream data rate as well and so it's actually good this happened.

My wife put a damper on my plan, she reminded me that the condo we live in doesn't have fiber cabling inside yet and we'll end up paying extra for that, especially we live in the 5th floor...
No, the IP I'm getting is a public IP -- this is after I put the modem to Bridge-Mode
i called 171 this morning to inquire if i can be upgraded. the agent said that our street isn't in the list of streets in our village that is fibr ready so we can't be upgraded, though our house is in the corner of one of the fibr ready streets :(
You can apply for connection with the linemen installing PLDT Fibre.
When I saw a couple of them stringing cables near my apartment home office, I asked if it was fibre they were laying. They answered yes and said I can apply through them for as long as it's an unlimited plan 1899 or higher. I submitted a xerox copy of my ID as well as contact number. The next day in the morning they they called and can install the fibre. By the afternoon, it's up and running.
^i said just that but no dice. well what can we expect from these CC agents...
i will have to resort to inside channels i guess.

I didn't see them installing. I have this feeling that the agent handing out flyers is just making an informal survey of the area, like a market feasibility. I did see a roll of fiber cable lying around one of the electric poles. Not sure if they left it there for installation later.

Is there currently an issue with Chrome and PLDT? We can't access anything using Chrome on a desktop PC. All other browsers work fine and so does Chrome on my phone. I suspected it could simply be a bad browser configuration but when we contacted PLDT, the CSR said it's a Chrome issue.
By the way, been able to get 5Mbps again on PLDT. I checked the PLDT modem and it's now:
Upstream Speed 925 kbps Downstream Speed 6015 kbps
^ Chrome has its own internal DNS cache that might have gotten contaminated with badly resolved names. PLDT's DNS servers are known to flake out sometimes and might have given your Chrome some food poisoning.Alright. Thanks!
To fix go to: chrome://net-internals/#dns
and clear your host cache then go to
chrome://net-internals/#sockets
and flush sockets. Also check Chrome's proxy config in case something might have gotten set in there.
What's the catch? Seems too good to be true (assuming that we do have fibr in our area). (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180111/31b5d18a350b23080dde050ce722e080.jpg)

the speed boost is only good for 3 or 6 months. after that you go back to 50mbps which is your real speed. and if you apply for the 20mbps plan, your upgrade would be to 50mbps. the "no change in your monthly bill" assumes that you avail of the same amount as your current plan.
also take note that your landline would now be connected to your router so if you turn off your router you also do not have landline service

I suppose there will be a new lock in period too.
Landline connected to router? So how do you call tech support when fibr is down?
It is the same problem with the old copper wires. If the wires are broken, you can't call.
AFAIK some of the new 'Fibre' deployments are actually VDSL. Not a big deal for most customers because throughput is similar, but your latency and uptime might not be good as an actual fibre connection.
^hmm so why didn't PLDT want to update my DSL plan to Fibr because our condo is "not fibr-ready"?
Still at work so cannot check yet, can I port forward/assign DMZ? Sabi sa TPC thread locked na daw yun modem? Umaandar pa ba yung workarounds?
at last nagka Fibr din! Switcher promo 1899. No major problems with globe pero 13 out of 15mbps is a bit too slow for us now that my wife and kids discovered netflix.

are the max attainable download/upload rate shown in the router settings related to the quality of the cable laid on your place or is it an artificial limit imposed by your provider?
my max download rate is around 8000+ kbps (8mbps), and my plan's download rate is 4mbps. does this mean even if i switch providers this will still be my max rate, e.g. it has to do with the cable running up from our condo's cabinet to my unit?

It is the lesser of the 2 limits. It is artficially limited by the DSL slot and line checked by the modem if it is really achieved. In that case, it adapts to a lower rate. My DSL modem is artificially throttled to 4192kbps downstream datarate. Before it was 6000+kbps. That's on the old Xperience 5mbps plan that no longer exists. It seems I have been downgraded to 3mbps (plan 1299) but I am still paying 1599/month for phone+DSL service.
You need to have Fibre or VDSL to realistically attain 20mbps.

I think the meat of borgy_t's question was whether or not he could achieve speeds higher than 8Mbps by switching providers (or plans), in case it was the physical lines in their building that was limiting his link speed to 8Mbps.

Nice! Good to see our local broadband infrastructure finally being upgraded. :silly:
I can now pay back the internet by seeding on torrents after years of being a leeching bastard! :silly:

im currently getting ~53mbps download and ~48mbps upload. it would be great to have really high upload now since i want to increase my ratio on those private trackers
Hi guys! Mas ok po ba ang speedtest kesa sa testmy.net in testing speeds of dl/ul for PLDT fiber?

Pareho lang yan...
This is my average multithread download speed...

IMO testmy is crap. Aside from not properly accounting for speed ramp-ups, their results vary wildly from run to run. Tried the global multi-thread several times the last few days and got some results in the 30-40Mbps range, then a bunch at 18-21, then some at 8-10.

The best 'tests' are the actual speeds you get from real downloads or streaming services.
lol if testmy gives low results and PLDT refunds you for them then they're great for that purpose!
My real world speed test are well seeded torrents. Been getting 5.9MB/s down, 9MB/s up so can confirm the 50/90 Mbps reported by speedtest is legit.
may problem ba PLDT ngayon? kahit speedtest ayaw mag load.

^ naka bridge mode ka ba?
kasi ako malaki yung improvement sa latency (ping) and D/U speeds ko nung gumamit ako ng separate router.
so how do you guys access pr0nhub? Kakainins mag setup ng proxy or vpn. Only thing I miss about globedsl, hindi blocked ang educational sites hahaha
There's glitch in the network since last night... I love my upload speed.
