Cheapest / best place to buy originals? Thinking of buying one or two to get things started

Try Plamo Attack. They have a branch at Shaw Blvd., but I usually go to their Timog Ave. branch..3rd floor, same building as Pure Gold Timog. Last time I went there, they were selling RG RX-78-2 for P1099.

Will be in Hong Kong on the 21st to the 24th. I'm thinking of hitting Mongkok in search of P-Bandai kits. Any suggestions?

You already have the Nu right? How about a full-armor Unicorn? Or Strike Freedom because Jesus Yamato

I don't gundam so i can't recommend any kits, but here are some buildings with several toy stores inside:

Sino Centre, Nathan Road, Mong Kok, Kowloon, Hong Kong
CTMA Centre
In's Point - toy hk
Langham Place mall also has a few toy stores and it's walking distance (10 minutes) from those buildings I listed.

@splerdu

Apparently there's a heavy weapons kit for the Hi-Nu already. But since I already have a Nu gundam I'll probably go looking for Zeta or ZZ kits.

Saw the gray Zeta Plus P-Bandai kit. Looks nice.

Double fin funnel mods for the Nu look awesome, but IMO it's pretty hard to execute. Kinda like how a well-done Strike Freedom can look really good, but it's hard to pull off.
