cdrom/cdrw undetected at WinXP
« on: June 27, 2002, 01:08:34 PM »
WinXP can't detect my cdrom and cdrw pero my win98 can detect them. Tapos sabi it might have something to do with SCSI, kasi ang nasa device mgr e puro scsi counterpart ng cdrom/rw ko. Please help me :(

7op3n6,
Sometimes the solution could be as easy as replacing the IDE cables you are using. Try doing this & have a go at it again.

What port did you connect your cd-rom/cdrw into?  Does your motherboard have a third party onboard ide/raid controller?  Some of these onboard controllers do not support ATAPI devices anymore and that might be the reason.

Are you by any chance using a motherboard with a VIA chipset? What IDE drivers are you using?

some (older) harddrives & cdrom drives can't be detected when using 80-pin IDE cables... try using your 40-pin cables again...
