Wi-Fi Keeps Dropping on my Samsung Galaxy Handsets
« on: November 14, 2017, 01:50:56 PM »

I have this Wi-Fi issue.

Both my s7e and my wifes s7 WiFi keeps dropping from time to time, getting the exclamation point at the Wi-Fi symbol. Please see attached photo.

All other devices at home, 3 laptops, 2 Blackberrys, desktop, and other gadgets, connects to it flawlessly. Not a single drop.

I dont use Samsung Cloud, while switch is turned off. Both my wife and i are planning to get the s8+ and note 8 but now having second thoughts due to this prevalent and unsolved problem by Samsung. Is there a permanent fix for this issue? No official word, response or solution from Samsung? It seems like its not an isolated issue as well, check this thread out, and several others on the net:

Not happening on my S7edge.   Usually an exclamation is 'no internet' but the Wifi connection is still there.  Either the router is not able to serve all devices at a time, or your net connection keeps dropping or worse, DNS problems.   The only time i notice my S7edge had no net was if its been idle for a while... i pick it up, and then it suddenly comes alive with notifications and updates...

Is "keep Wi-Fi on during sleep" set to "always on"?

Some power saving modes usually change the above settings to "never".

I have this problem sometimes  with my S8+ too. But not often enough to be troublesome. I just turn off/turn on wifi on the phone and it usually fixes it. If the problem still persists, I powercycle the access point.

Setting my phone to only use the 5GHz SSID of the AP seems to have fixed this issue for me.

have any of you tried to use a static ip for the wifi?  not sure if its a solution but i have noticed that my connection was intermittent when i was on dynamic ip.  even if the router "remembers" my wifi ip address i sometimes get intermittent connection.
