@master dean

dumaan ako kanina sa huawei center. talagang nag black ang screen opag drag down nung menu. para nga siguro readable kahit ano pa wallpaper.

do you mean the notifications and toggle bar?  not sure with huawei but sa xiaomi depende yun sa theme kung mag black or transparent.  pati nga yung recents kayang gawin na transparent lang depende sa theme.  sa akin ngayon pag nag recents menu ako nasa background parin ang currently used app ko.  tuloy tuloy parin sya kahit nakalabas na ang recents.  ang pagkaalala ko kasi dati nagiging black background ang recents ko.  pinalitan ko lang ang theme kaya naging transparent nalang

@boss seph,

that's good to know.  thanks for the update.

on a different note, we managed to sort out the problem with my wife's phone...basically, files were corrupted so she initially thought it was the phone conking out but it was easily solved by the usual reformat technique prescribed by tech stores of old (in this case, reformat the memory card LOL).  i do hope that it really is just the memory card and not the phone itself that's having problems.  it's a moto g4 play (entry level of lenovo/moto for 2016) and we got it for a steal price and she really just wanted a basic phone that works.  it shipped with android 6.0 and lenovo/moto delivered on their promise to update it to nougat (7.1.2) and that's pretty good consider that it's just an entry level phone.

you usually won't find a DOA harddrive on TPC, it *will* work, but the question is just /how long/...

btw, I bought a few 3TB WD Green drive from TPC a few years ago (maybe 4 or 5years ago na...), and found out that there's a problem with WD Green drives (not the one that I bought, but WD green drives in general) a few weeks after that... but I'm still using the drives now, when I got the drives, it looked like it was used on a CCTV DVR (ext2 file system 100% full with 1GB mp4 rotated files -- maybe the seller thought it was broken as it can't be accessed in Windows  :lol:)

How was Commercenter's cinema?
to put it shortly, quite good. and so are the people.

i noticed that when i arrived maybe 10:15 am, there was an orderly line already. the people were chatting but none too boisterous. while watching the movie everyone seemed mindful of other in the room. i inwardly groaned when a parent brought a toddler. i thought he'd go yelling with excitement most of the time, but he was surprisingly quiet and when he asked questions his mom hushed him and said something about there being other people around. when the movie ended and the lights turned on, the people actually carried their trash and tossed them in the can in front.

quite the difference in the crowd compared to where i usually watch movies (Festival Mall, SM Center Muntinlupa) where people are generally noisy, unmindful of others and unashamed litterbugs.

as for the cinema itself, yesterday there was still no posted sked on FB. so i called their number and i was told the earliest slots for the 4 cinemas so i was able to adjust my sked accordingly. the screen was clear, the sound quality was good and the seats were comfortable enough for a tall guy like me to lean back and enjoy the movie.

now, i haven't tried higher end cinemas, but at P260 per seat i think it's worth it.

I normally buy 2nd hand ones.... most are still good and lasts a long time BUT depends on how it was used and how old it is.

still using a 500GB and 1TB on my gaming PC and a 320GB as storage for my work PC.... all 2nd hand. the one I bought new was a Sandisk Ultra II SSD as boot up for my work PC.

You can test it before buying it.... a number of shops that sell 2nd hand mech drives allow you to test it before buying.

Infinity War Rating:

8.5/10 for me. did not quite meet my expectations, but didn't ruin my childhood. in fact i left the cinema quite pleased. it delivered what it promised. thanks, disney/marvel.
